With another plot twist emerging Tuesday in the seemingly endless drama of conference realignment, the turbulent world of college athletics suddenly had a chance to stabilize.

The Daily Oklahoman reported that Oklahoma would be interested in staying in the Big 12 if the conference and the University of Texas agreed to some concessions, including the resignation of Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe and some restrictions on Texas’s new television network, including limits on coverage of high schools.

A Big 12 source confirmed the report and said that after a few days in which it seemed as if the Big 12 might break up, some optimism has returned about holding the conference together.
