Former USM coach Jeff Bower

Coach Bower is a very close friend to several people in our athletic department and was potentially a candidate in our most recent coaching search.

This was posted on the USM board tonight about Coach. Does not sound good. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

"Last I heard it was a flesh eating bacteria, obviously very, very serious. Cut his leg, 35 stitches and went home after getting sewn up. Had to go back because something was obviously wrong.

The new doc took a look and immediately had to reopen his stitches because of massive infection. Cleaned his wound out but that was not enough and found flesh eating bacteria.

Immediate surgery...and a 3 hour surgery and now in hyperbolic chamber.

Cutting his leg while out on his boat in the Gulf waters near shore or not, the good Lord only knows what you catch!
