As long as we have a defense that can hold a team like San Francisco to 206 total yards, including 77 on the ground, in their house, then I guess it won't matter who we run out there at QB? At least that is what I'm hoping for because it's a long season to go.

SF isn't the worst team but they aren't very good. Alex Smith is terrible and even he had his moments of torching the Cowboys secondary. All in all the 49ers are below average and I think Dallas is probably average because they have A TON of issues. But make no mistake that the Cowboys have always had a chance in games or always had chances at good seasons with expectations because of Romo.

That fearsome Seahawks D held them to 209 and 85 on the ground.

We don't have a chance in either of the first two games this season without Romo at the helm. This team has absolutely ZERO at the run game and our secondary is currently comprised of Jenkins (on an oxygen tank), my dad, a night duty cleaning lady from the Arlington La Quinta, and Alan Ball (who is on the depth chart right after the cleaning lady).

Oh, and we're matching up Spencer, Brooking, and James with HBs/FBs/TEs and they're getting torched. The combination of the craptastic secondary and lack of athleticism at LB has done a pretty good job of making slugs like Sanchez and Alex Smith look like half-decent QBs.

So right now I've got:

1) No secondary

2) No run game

3) Slow linebackers

I'm going to go ahead and add

4) No depth at WR

5) Jason Garrett playcalling (particularly in the red zone)

These are the 5 things I fix before I worry about Tony Romo. And there's plenty I don't like about Romo. I can take the interceptions where you get fooled by the defense and a linebacker slips underneath into coverage and picks you off, or the ones where the line and backs don't pick up the blitz and you make a desperate throw and get picked. But too many of Tony's are just "WTF" throws, where you can't figure any rhyme or reason to it (like the one in the Jets game).

But he's a gunslinger, so I think there's always going to be some of that. He's capable of putting a team on his back and winning. He's a guy who CAN win you games. He's not a bus driver, though, and he's not that next level - Aikman or Staubach. He's more Danny White or Dandy Don. He CAN also lose you games. But he's also not Drewy Testabledsoe, Hutchinson, Quincy Carter, or any number of sh*tbirds we've had manning the position since Aikman. I think if you have enough help for him, his decision-making in crunch time is not nearly the issue that it is now.

He's a good player but not good enough. Romo has too many mistakes and mental breakdowns in crunch time. Injuries are now coming with age and a really bad/young OL. He'll never surpass Danny White in the Cowboys QB lore.

I say trade him now while his stock is still relatively high. His career peaked a couple of years ago. Coach Ginger appears to be trying to rebuild this thing with youth anyway...

Yea... trade him... I'm sure we'll find a new awesome QB real quick. Just ask the 49ers, Jaguars, Dolphins, Redskins, Titans, Seahawks, Vikings, Broncos, Raiders, Chiefs, Colts, Panthers, or Browns how easy it is to find one.

So you trade one of the 10 best QBs in the league? Then who do you play at QB?

Apparently you have forgotten how hard it was to find a replacement for Mr. Aikman. Something that didn't happen until the Cowboys lucked into Romo.

Do you really trust Jerrrah to find a superstar QB in the draft? Because that is the only level of NFL QB that is above Tony Romo right now. You do realize trading Romo would put the Cows in full blown rebuilding mode, leading to at least 2 season of 3-13 to 5-11 recorfds, right?

It always amazes me the group think that goes on in Cowboy land. It's nothing new. It's been going on since Gary Hogeboom replaced Danny White as the starting QB in 1984. Even Tom Landry bent to that group think... for 5 games.

I guess Denver should have traded Elway when he didn't win a Superbowl by the age of 31? Miami dang sure should have unloaded Marino, because he is going on 50 without a ring. If any guy couldn't win the big one, it's big Dan, right?

Tony Romo has the bad fortune of being the QB on a slightly above NFL average Cowboy teams while enjoying life just a little too much. He should be home studying film every waking moment of his life that he isn't on the practice field or in the game. He shouldn't even be allowed to watch any movies on the team flight, right? He should be watching film.

Long way to go in Tony's Career. This is a team game, and unless the Cowboys get better at a whole host of positions that don't start with a Q, Tony Romo will never win a championship.

The Cows are lucky to have a top 10 QB. Trading him in his prime would be the dumbest thing Jerry Jones has done since the Spring of 1994.

It's not rational to get red of Romo. Guess what we do that and the line forms to the left. Whether you like it or not Romo is probably a top 15 overall QB. When you have that you don't just get rid of him. Bottom line is he's our QB....we've only been semi competitive and had a chance in games because of him. Do you remember what happened once Aikman was gone? Ya I don't want to experience that again if I don't have too. Romo is our guy and we'll just have to live and die with how he performs in games.

---Agree... he not Tom Brady...[not many that good] but he is a lot better than most of them..... Even in the Jets game he was not that terrible.... Cowboys were supposed to lose and he (and the rest) were winning.. the fumble was because of his determination to get into the end zone... the ball hit an opponents knee...and popped out... the interception... well that is on him. I don't see any other ones around and available that are better. Knowing his physical condition that he played with last week (and won) is amazing. No one wants to win more than he does.... he just isn't Tom Brady or P.Manning... few are. He is not a personal embarrassment to Dallas either as some players have been..

You make it sound like its so easy to find a franchise quarterback. His stock is high for a reason...hes a damn good quarterback. Again why get rid of him? He's not Tom Brady, Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach but then who the hell is?

Lets also not forget that this team has been fools gold in a lot of areas as well and had the Cowboys had the ability to properly draft and build the proper team I think it would have reflected better on Romo's ability. While I agree he tends to get careless at times that is what you get with a gunslinger's makeup. He'll make the worst plays at times but then he can also make plays that very few quarterbacks are able to do. Romo is our and I'd like to see people's viewpoints on him the day he doesn't wear our jersey anymore and we're searching for the next franchise quarterback.

Romo to the Browns for Colt McCoy. McCoy is actually from Texas, he hates golf and sex so we don't have to worry about him trying to qualify for the U.S. Open or trying to score with every blonde celebrity out there rather than studying his playbook...and he wears cowboy hats, impossible to wear backwards.

I've heard Alex Smith is deathly afraid of the Cabos, or vacationing in general, and would rather stay at home and play sudoku. Sounds like he might be a good fit.

I'd say maybe try to trade him for Tom Brady... But Brady is a skirt-chasing celebri-humping glory boy who can't stop himself from throwing away interceptions and games, and who can't even get through a season without snapping like a twig.

Jeez, Romo couldn't even put the ball in the end zone tonight.

I don't care that they won, I just want to focus on Tony Romo's failure to score TDs. Trade his A$$!!!!!!!!!!!1!11111!!!!!

Once again Washington proves they are what they are. I'll take it to my grave that anybody that thinks Rex Grossman is capable of starting in the NFL for a full 16 game season by their choice is an idiot. As far as Romo...freaking stud. And Dan Bailey looks to be the kicker here at least the rest of this year.

Outside of Miles and Witten, Romo is playing with an offense full of spares and borderline retards. It's a miracle he's gotten them 2 wins out if these first 3. I was fine with letting go of the overrated and overpaid Andre.... boy does that look foolish now.

Maybe if Romo a wasn't so busy playing golf in the offseason he could have taught his backup recievers the playbook... or his center how/when to snap the ball. GUY IS A JOKE!!!!

I think most Dallas fans love to think their team is just a QB away from winning another Super Bowl, but in my semi-objective opinion, Romo is the least of your concerns. I'm no Cowboys fan, but I'm a Romo fan. And any QB would have a tough time winning with the guys they trotted out on the offense last night.

Dallas fans seem to suffer the same delusions of grandeur as Notre Dame fans; the brand is stronger than the product. But hey, at least you guys have won something in the past. In Houston, there's no win, only self-deprecation.

Oh we got it. And that was my point: one can't objectively criticize the current Cowboy team without having to hear about how great the past teams were. The key word, of course, being were. tongue.gif

Our line is a freaking joke, our receiving core is a joke. Romo is not, has never been, and won't ever be the problem. He single handely kept us in a game we should have had no business winning. Now that we have a capable Defense, he can play conservative and be better. Bottomline, I don't carfe who you start at QB, with the absolutely pathetic line they have protecting for him, anybody's lucky to maintain a drive. Our lack of TD's was a direct result of play calling and OL mistakes when it counted. Check the numbers, check the new ESPN QBR, take a poll of GM's and coaches around the league, 70% would love to have him on their roster tomorrow. I've never been a Romo fan, but I respect the guy immensely for what he's trying to do with the biggest cluster since the Mavs pre-Cuban.

Romo is not the problem, we all say over and over again it starts and ends in the trenches. We're starting 2 freaking ROOKIES on the OL and a 2nd yr center, I don't care who you are, that's a recipe for disaster.
