The Only Thing Bad Yesterday

I remember at least four. Cheap shot on Phillips when he got injured, cheap shot after the play on Dunbar by a dlineman when we fumbled. Cheap shot on someone (can't remember now who it was on our team) after the play in the middle of the pile, and a cheap shot body slam of Hamilton (I think) 15 yards back from where he was ruled down when the player finally body slammed him way after the whistle. perhaps they were isolated incidents, if not I hope Houston loses every one of their games. Lots of really bad sportsmanship displayed by their team.

What conference were they from?

This. I was debating this with some folks at the game. Some thought they were CUSA refs as it was part of the deal to get Houston to come to Denton. I can't imagine allowing CUSA refs, but if that's the deal...well, that's the deal. I would hope they were "neutral refs" as they were sure bad! Looked like Sunbelt refs to me. Just how do you miss Dunbar getting run over, Phillips being hit late and some of the holds??? reminds me of he kid's song "Three Blind Mice". At times, the refs were just plain bad! They even seemed confused at times. Probably their firs game of the year as well. If so, it showed!

But, I want to go on record as saying that the final score was the final score and it was not the calls made by the refs no matter what conference they are from. I just wanted t chime in with my agreement that they were, at times, bad. About as bad as that decision by Chancellor to try to field that punt over his head. I'm guessing that doesn't happen again...great game by Chancellor...would have loved to see him run that punt back as well.

They were Conference USA officials. There will be Sun Belt officials in Robertson Stadium next season.

And yes, why, after Chancellor watched the punter boom a punt over his head when the play was whistled dead, did he not back up for the next one, which he didn't field cleanly, and gave UH a short field? Hope that doesn't happen again.

How abou Keenum acting on the late "hit" when Akpunku tapped him. Keenum looked like he was shot and flailed to the ground.

AK was actually pushed by a UH lineman into Keenum, then later Dunbar was hit about two yards out of bounds in the same location, in front of a ref, and nothing was called. The worst was the swing a UH player took at one of our players, again in front of a ref, and nothing was done. I still question if Atterberry's punt was tipped when he was fun into and no flag was thrown. I don't think it would have changed the outcome, but it sure was frustrating at the time.

I was in section 102 and was front and center for the "tipped" punt. Not a chance it was tipped. If it was the Houston player would have a broken hand. Also(and I do not mean this in a sexist way at all) the female line judge certainly had some odd ball spots and seemed to miss some holding calls. Also blew 2 illegal shift calls when we had multiples in motion. I guess she thinks the players have to reset for 2 minutes after the shift.

Maybe it was her time of the month?

I was thinking she missed calls all night and this isn't me being anti-woman ref, because I didn't notice that she was female until the second half. That being sad, she wasn't good. That however didn't cost us the game.

Unless you know something I don't, I don't think UofH plays UNT next year. I looked at both future schedules and the game is on neither of them.
