how was the tailgating scene at fouts? the red/blue lot was fabulous...open spaces, green space, plenty of room, no nazis...perfect time!

i talked to one of the workers in a golf cart and he said it was the easiest/best tailgating day that he had been a part of since starting with north texas 5 years ago. everything went great, according to him.

Fouts was relatively calm, although there were definately some groups tailgating. We spent the day there since a friend was able to bring a camper. We won't have it for any games going forward, so I think we will try the Apogee side from the Blue/Red lots for the Indiana game. Anybody have any good recommendations?

Fouts was great! I got there at 7:30 and we parked the double decker school bus on the south end of the old stadium along the grass. The parking company and UNT police quickly ordered us to move it between the blue concrete blocks near the center of the lot. Of course us and others politely complained and requested to stay put. The parking company's head guy was very aggressive regarding the RV issue and the UNT police ended up contacting the athletic director's office. Bryan came out who was SUPER nice and allowed us to stay. The RV area between the blue parking blocks filled up fast. I figure UNT will have to revisit their rules as far as RVs. The UNT police and the parking company clearly were not on the same page. UNT police was very nice and the parking company workers were nice. The workers were even complaining about the head parking company guy. Our group was very polite and thanked Bryan profusely. The lot then quickly filled up throughout the day and it was a huge party. Many of the NT fans around us paid us a visit, shared food/drink and we had a great time. At one point, this U of H lady walked over and asked us to turn our music down. We all looked at her with a blank face and she walked away. Party continued.

PS: My wife (die hard LSU fan) was decked in green, started playfully yelling "Bird Feed!" to all of the UH fans from top of the bus as they past by, tossing them green beads. It was pretty funny. Good college football razzing. FYI, LSU fans yell "Tiger Bait" at the opposing fans. She may have something going with this one. It was a friendly way of taunting the visiting fans.

"Bird Feed" has a nice ring to it. Anyone else interested in trying it out as a new chant at opposing fans? It kind of has a nice background story to it. "Lifelong LSU fan came out and started it at her first NT game."

I think we should see if we can get it to catch on. :thumbsu:

JROCK- Thanks for much for your hospitality and great music selection. Your home brew "tailgating ale" was outstanding. Keep up the great work in helping to make our tailgating atmospehere even better!

We set up on the south side of the stadium in Red/Blue. Loved it.

If you guys want to set up near us for Indiana, let me know.

Very very welcome! We all had a great time. The JRocktoberfest went fast. I will pass the kind comments on to the main home brewer. Look forward to seeing you all again. Hopefully we can tailgate near Apogee next time. Would love to see experience that area. But yesterday we had no complaints other than UNT police and parking crew trying to move us early in the morning.

I second the Bird Feed heckle...that would be awesome! Kudos to your wife! I wish you guys could park in the Red Lot since it sounds like your tailgate is pretty sick.

She says "Thanks. More than happy to help the Mean Green." She's a good southern belle. I'm very lucky to have found her. I think the "Bird Feed" thing is very clever not to mention AWESOME as a heckle. :)
