Dan McCarney has faced some great quarterbacks during his coaching career, from Sam Bradford to Matt Stafford, and coached his share as well.

Just a few months ago, McCarney paced the sidelines at Florida with Tim Tebow.

That experience gives McCarney a unique perspective on the best quarterbacks who have played in college the last few years, not to mention the challenge North Texas will face Saturday when the Mean Green hosts Houston.

The Cougars feature Case Keenum, one of the best quarterbacks in the country, who shredded UCLA’s secondary last week.

“He has timing, he’s got accuracy, he’s got confidence, he’s got great touch, he’s got arm strength and gets the ball out of his hands so fast,” McCarney said. “I think he is really special.”
