Maryland's flag bears the arms of the Calvert and Crossland families. Calvert was the family name of the Lords Baltimore who founded Maryland as an English colony in 1634, and their colors of gold and black appear in the first and fourth quarters of the flag. Crossland was the family of the mother of George Calvert, first Lord Baltimore. The red and white Crossland colors, with a cross bottony, appear in the second and third quarters.

Those gaudy uniforms are incredible only because their heraldry is derived from their history.

I liked it. It was definitely unique.

I would love to see North Texas with a Maryland style helmet. On one side of the helmet use the current configuration of white North Texas on Green background, then the other half of the helmet white paint with a big green SOW on it. Slap a black face mask, black chinstrap, and voila!!!!
