Seems that SMU's campaign to move to the Big 12 has taken a new turn. SMU fans are at ESPN GameDay at Cowboys Stadium holding up signs that say "SMU Ready to Go," Another couple of signs have the Pony logo with "BCS" written across the horse.

I would be willing to bet that those are plants from the athletic department... and that is pretty darn smart.

If there was any question as to who rules the roost in CUSA it's been made quite clear. SMU is actively and publically seeking to leave and CUSA can't say or do a damn thing about it.

Why would you want to join a conference that appears no one wants to belong to anymore? If OU is thinking about leaving and the Aggies say they are leaving, with Mizzu at one point openly campaigning to join a different conference, why would you want to join that sinking ship?

I'm guessing it has to do with the narcissism of their fanbase. If they are chosen to join the Big 12, even an imploding Big 12, it is some kind of validation of how they see themselves as a highly regarded university and athletics program.

They'll likely be running home with those signs between their legs after their spanking on Sunday night. Hopefully, their open desire to exit CUSA will atagonize enough of their conference mates to render their opposition to us worthless the next time CUSA votes on adding new schools.

The Big 12 still has an autobid. Any team would want to join and try to make that work.

I still don't think SMU gets in.
