What an incredible motivator Dan is. His enthusiasm is contagious- I am not expecting miracles but cannot imagine a better hire for the program at this point. Cannot wait for Sept10th!

The event was fun. First time i got to walk in the stadium.... Amazing! I was a little disappointed with the turnout though.I also thought it was interesting when RV said that Houston had already bought 1300 tickets.

The band outnumbered the fans by a lot. I can not believe more people didn't show up. It was embarrassing indeed. I brought two other people with me (both are students) and they had no idea about it. I wonder if they need to get the word out more.

Nothing like hearing the UNT fight song first thing in the morning. Awesome!

I've noticed that over the past couple years, the band has added an additional word to the chant portion of the fight song. It sounds like "caw" and comes after the first time the word "eagles" is said. It is audible in the video. Is this a sanctioned modification to our fight song?

I think many of you may have had your expectations a bit high. We walked in at about 7:40 and the crowd in and around the stadium was much more than I expected. Remember that school still has not started and they're not all huddled around a fan message board getting hyped for the season.

On another note.... WTH is the draw of a foam party? I might just be a grumpy alumni but don't these kids know they could be getting someone to buy them beer or experimenting with whatever rather than hopping up and down in an inflatable pit of foam?

Think about a famous Mike Rhyner quote that could be utilized at a foam party and you get the picture.

This is correct. They added the caw a couple seasons ago after U---N---T-----Eagles (caw! And put up the claw)

Yeah, I have begged the students to stop that crap. it did kind of die down as the season progressed and I countered it by screaming "Mean Green Eagles" over them.

Well, kind of bad when my 7 and 9 year olds ask me "what did they say?"....

Well, looks like there is a bit of a difference of opinion on whether the crowd was good or bad. But, my take on this is that this was the first real effort to do something like this, and from the video it looked like the crowd was OK. The student body has not all returned to campus and it was a first time effort without any real build-up. The word will get out and the event will grow as it is moved to "The Hill". Students who wanted to get there could...those who complained about the drive or walk wouldn't go anyway and would find some excuse for not supporting THEIR team. Just like some alums and fans do on a regular basis. The culture is, indeed, changing and it will start to change first with the freshmen students, and it will take a bit of time...and some winning to give it momentum.

So, I'll say...very nice start to both the athletic dept. and the students. But, it's just a start...let's make it the start of something BIG!

On Facebook I saw a lot of students complain that they had to either walk or drive over to the stadium.

Just another one of those things that would be fixed by winning.

Or proactively having shuttles from the dorms for this event. There are some available as school is not in session. It's called customer service!

I agree wholeheartedly. When Coach Mac asked how many freshmen were in the stands, at least a third of the crowd's hands went up. I think the problem with this event is that it wasn't communicated well how the students were supposed to get there, how parking was going to be handled, and what exactly it was all about. The other problem is that there were other events scheduled to happen at 8 on campus and Denton Bible had their annual Casino night last night as well. I don't feel like anyone was on the same page to really make it a success.

I believe their allotment is 2000 tickets.
