With a potential only 2 or 3 ships next year, this seems a strange commit. Must see something not apparent in the stats. I expect Jones to be a fixture at PG with Norris as backup. There should be a boatload of off guards available, and commiting a relatively short and not highly rated player at this time seems questionable.

Sounds like he was playing really well this summer (in AAU ball or whatever you call the summer league stuff). This was in a lead-in to a Rivals article on Pye:

On a team that can feature a new star each game, Brandon Pye has been a consistent standout since late June and the start of July for the Dallas Showtyme Elite.

Sorry not a Rivals member so that's all I could get....but you can surmise from that, that he's been playing really well this summer.

Nice pickup. We needed a pure shooting guard to complement the guys we have coming in this year and hopefully Pye can fill that role. I was hoping that Forte would be coming to Denton to kind of fill that role, but with Kansas now in the offer picture we're probably a longshot. Now let's find us a couple of biggins. ,

I love the pure shooting type. I get more excited watching a guy bury a 3-pt bomb with a man in his face, than watching a thunder dunk on the noggin. Without seeing any of the new recruits play a minute, it seems like we have a lot of mid range guys. Pye might be the guy to strecth the defense and leave you with a little Pye in the eye. Rock me!
