I have attended Denton Bible Church off university in Denton a few times where Tommy Nelson is the Head Pastor. He often talks about when he was quarterback for North Texas I am guessing in the 60's or 70's? I was just wondering if anyone had some information about Tommy as a player? Maybe some old Photos? Seems he is still a solid supporter of the program!

I remember him talking about blowing out his knee - how it felt like someone had stuck a burnng branding iron inside of his knee. I remember that from when I injuried my own knee.

I don't think he was a QB. I believe that he was a LB, but I could be wrong.

Don't know his position, but a Tommy Nelson shows to be a letter winner in 1971.

Tommy was a QB Tommy told me once he blew out his knee during his Junior year. Coming back for his senior year Hayden Fry had been hired and told Tommy at the start of his senior year "We're not going to be very good this year, and if we're going to be bad Im going to do it with a sophomore at QB not a senior"

In the 2005 media guide, he is listed as having played in 1971....no position listed.
