I'm not going to try and dissect the quote but there are approximately 310 million people in the USA. 153.4 million make up the workforce as of July 8, 2011. This leaves roughly over 156 million non workers. Government is the largest employer. If you want an example of what happens with an inflated government workforce check out Greece.

Like I said, I'm not going to dissect his quote as many people (like you said) are factored into the 156 million number that do not qualify to work. Children, some disabled, retired, etc. for example.

I could be wrong but I think the quote is referring to a growing population that votes for a party to take care of them rather than work. Not all, but some.

Well...if we really (and accurately) dissect the quote... about 25% of the U.S. population is under 18, and thus ineligible to vote. That leaves roughly 232.5 million possible voters...using your number of 153.4 million workers, that would leave just over 79 million eligible non-working voters.

Obviously, figures can lie...a 9% unemployment rate has absolutely nothing to say about the actual "count" of people working. Fuzzy math, indeed!

I openly state I'm not going to dissect his quote to bits and pieces and I state that there is 156 million NON workers.

If you reread my two posts I think you'll see I interpreted the quote differently than you. You interpreted it literally whereas my interpretation was more figurative or metaphorical I guess. Looking at the time differences, I think the confusion started because we were on top of each other at 10:13 AM. If you know what I mean.

Ha! On the contrary, Pops. I understand the metaphor and will be happy to spell it out as you see it: Republicans work jobs for a living, Democrats vote to expand government so that they can draw a check for a living (without working). I get your point; however, it's ridiculous in my opinion. So, I ridiculed. No worries. I'm sick of both parties; primarily because of comments like yours and subsequent actions from the weak minded.
