It’s been a while since Pat Boone has set foot on the University of North Texas campus, but that’s set to change in September.

Boone, who attended what was then North Texas State College in 1954 and ’55, will return Sept. 10 to sing the national anthem at the new football stadium’s inaugural game. The next day, he will host “An Evening With Pat Boone” in the Murchison Performing Arts Center.

UNT President Lane Rawlins said he went to visit Boone in March as part of a university capital campaign that has not yet entered its public phase.

“He talked about how much he really enjoyed his experiences in Denton,” Rawlins said.
