26 Reasons To Watch The Sun Belt

"No program in the SBC has more optimism surrounding it than North Texas. The Mean Green bring in a new head coach in Dan McCarney, get a brand-spanking-new stadium (it’s actually very cool) and have endless possibilities with a huge enrollment. Any kind of winning this year by UNT will only add more leverage to their market, and facilities which are looking more and more appealing to other conferences."

M-Movement?-The WAC already made a play for North Texas, and wisely UNT turned it down. The SBC is no longer the lowest ranked conference as the WAC is struggling, and the MAC is the next target in the pecking order. If conference commissioner Wright Waters can negotiate a “creative” and more lucrative TV deal after 2012, and the members don’t chase the quick buck, the SBC could be the most stable non-BCS conference in the country. Who would of thought?

Who'd of thought it indeed. ?

Z-Zach Attack-

UNT has two Zachs who will be needed in the clutch if they want to improve. The first is K Zach Olen who was lights out last season going 13 for 15 including a 53 yarder. The other is linebacker Zach Orr. Orr played strong as a frosh in 2010 with 60 tackles. Orr has the speed to play outside, and could be asked to if Sr. Forlando Johnson struggles early.

O-On the Tube-Like we mentioned earlier, the SBC will get a chance to restructure their contract after this year. If I were commissioner, I would try to hook on with the new NBC college sports. Sure the time slots might be crappy, but with NBC striking out in landing a big contract so far, they may be able to squeeze in and at least increase their exposure. A secondary “outside-the-box” contract with a channel like Mark Cuban’s HDNet could also help. The key-don’t wait for the phone to ring, approach broadcasters and be creative! And yes, I am applying for the commissioners job should Waters step down.

I agree with you, but wanted to point out that the mass media doesn't.

It seems no matter how hard we continue to try, and whatever the on-field results show, the country will ignorantly understand the Belt to be the bottom-feeder.

sad.
