It was pointed out to me by the great SUMG that the recent edition of The North Texan lists under upcoming events a watch party for UNT at FIU game on Thursday Sept. 1....

Mean Green vs. Florida International Watch Party:

Come to UNT's new Mean Green Stadium Sept. 1 to watch the first football game of the season as the Mean Green plays FIU in Miami.

I believe this game will be broadcast on ESPN3 (webcast). Will there be local TV too, anyone know?

Per the athletic development staff weekday games that are on ESPN3 are only shown on streaming video. SBC network games not announced till mid July but that is the only shot for cable. Why wouldn't you want to see it on the big screen in the new stadium??? Much better venue IMHO. Ditch work by 3 to avoid traffic or take the A Train and bum a ride with someone back to metroplex. Be There!!!! :sword:

I will probably get blasted for this; but would suite and club holders get to use their areas for this event?

Good question.

Do club and suite holders get access to their areas for non-UNT events, ie concerts, HS playoffs and the like? Just wondering..

That would make sense, as most stadiums are this way; but I guess we will find out

I have been told by high-level Athletic Department personnel that club seat holders will have first option to buy tickets for any event held in the stadium - and those tickets will entitle them to sit in the club seating they have purchased for Mean Green football games.

That's nice. I would assume same goes for suite holders as well?

For the suite price I would assume it's like AAC and other venues, they get the suite for any event that occurs at the stadium. Suites by an entire space, club level is just a seat, from what I understand. ie... AAC suite holders have their suite for anything that comes thru the AAC, but season ticket holders, even in the platinum level, do not enjoy the same amenity, but are offered first dibs on purchasing their tickets for said event. Works the same for the Cowboys Stadium. Season ticket holders get first purchase right for any and all events, suite holders get access.

.......hope you are wrong - I was told specifically that those who hold club seats would have first option to park their butts in those seats should they want to purchase tickets to said event.

I think you misunderstand, you get the option to purchase your seats, but Suite holders actually get their suite at no extra cost.

Cowboys season ticket holders can purchase tickets to any event held there before anyone else.

Thanks for clarification. I think it would be great to have watching parties in the stadium for all away games and stream it on both video boards and on the TV's in the club and suites. Even if it's the Internet feed, they could do that as video and have MGRN audio streamed in.

Thoughts? Cost-prohibitive?
