I miss Shiner!! A few stores here in NC carry the "normal" variety but none of their special brews.

Do they still make Long Star?

I will do a top 5.

1. Shiner Bock, not my favorite tasting but absolutely my favorite beer. Shiner has a special part in my heart, I grew up 30 minutes from the brewery and I have family roots in the area.

2. Sam Adams Boston Lager

3. Guinness Stout

4. Real Ale Rye Ale from Blanco, Texas

5. Sunner Kolsch from Cologne, Germany

Usually my two favorite beers are Blue Moon and Dos Equis, but I really like Shiner's summer beer, Ruby Redbird.

so you prefer beers that need an orange, lime, and grapefruit...just drink some fruit juice!!!

sorry, but beer is beer...nothing more, nothing less!

I tried a new Shiner this weekend: They had a "Ruby Red" made by Shiner at Flying Saucer in FW. I really loved it, though I would have never guessed it a product of Shiner. Completely different direction, IMO.

LetsGiveACheer, I still see Lone Star!

I'm a jeans and Shiner Bock kind of guy. I also do well with Miller Light. Don't care for Buds or Coors*

*unless they're free.

Gotta disagree with you on this one.

i didn't mean that there aren't tons of different types. i prefer the ipa's and can't stand porters, but the comment was meant to convey that beer is beer and shouldn't be added too with fruit.

Scaldis... if you are lucky enough to find it, grats.

Vigne in Denton and Holy Grail Pub in Frisco/Plano carried it on my most recent visits.

You can't go wrong with a Duvel if you are in need of something a little "different" or a Belhaven Scottish Ale if you need something even maltier than Shiner.

The best quality "chugging" option (besides the freezing cold Shiner at Hooters) is definitely a tall glass of Paulaner Oktoberfest :)

God Bless Metzler's!!!

Beer is Beer? Puuleeez.

IPA's were brewed with extra hops to keep the ale from going bad during the long voyage from England to India. Having tasted it, I have to believe that they should have just let it go bad.....it couldn't have tasted worse.

Beer/ale, like coffee, is sooooo much better now than it was 30 or 40 years ago.

My favorites.

Alien Amber Ale...for an out of this world taste! (now available locally)

http://www.sierrablancabrewery.com/

Sierra Blanca Nut Brown Ale.

Sam Adams

Land Shark

Lite Beers

Sam Adams

Bud lite lime

a surprising find.

You can stop trying them and hoping that you'll find one that you like......they all start out bitter, and get worse after that.

ipa's are my favorite!!! they certainly aren't session beers, but a great beer to enjoy! keep drinking them...you may develop a taste for them!
