Congratulations, Tony. It is so nice to see "North Texas" on that roster. cannot be anything but good news for UNT. Go get 'em Tony and company!

As far as we know from Kram1 running into him at Chicken Express last week, chicken strips and fries was his last meal before he left for the training camp in Colorado.

Anyways, congrats Tony! Go get yourself and the USA another gold medal!

By the way, can anyone confirm if this is erroneous:

Transferred to North Texas after the NCAA initially ruled on Jan. 5, 2011, that he was academically ineligible to compete for the Tigers.

It was my understanding his NCAA qualies were all good, just that the school (or the Big XII) was the entity that ruled him out.

So what will this do to his academic progress/standing? He's away from the classroom for quite some time.

It was posted earlier by someone who knew his GPA and hours completed. I don't remember the specifics, but it was smokin'.

I wonder if he burned through a lot of hours and did so well because he anticipated not being available during this FIBA run. I hope this is the case, and trust he knows what he's doing. I looks like he is very motivated to do this right and be eligible ASAP.

FIBATV.com - Monthly pass costs $14.99. Day pass is $11.99.

Game 1 for Team USA is vs. Egypt on Thursday the 30th, 8:00 a.m. central (9:00 a.m. dirty commie east coast hippie time).

Game 2 is vs. Serbia, 8:00 a.m. central on Friday the 1st.

Game 3 is vs. China, 10:15 a.m. central on Saturday the 2nd.

2nd round through finals run from July 4th - 10th.

If the U.S. makes the finals, $14.99 would get you 9 games. 8 games if their month is a calendar month instead of a 30 day period.

Thinking about it...

For anyone else that can't flex their schedule around the internet broadcasts, there are free videos with highlights from each game, postgame media interviews, feature pieces, etc.

One prep player on U.S. U-19 team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Jahii Carson of Phoenix, who has signed to play at Arizona State, is the only high school player on USA Basketball's under-19 world championship team.

Jeremy Lamb of national champion Connecticut and Khyle Marshall of runner-up Butler are also on the 12-man roster that will defend the gold medal in the FIBA U19 World Championship in Latvia from June 30 to July 10.

Others announced Thursday were Keith Appling, Michigan State; James Bell, Villanova; Anthony Brown, Stanford; Tim Hardaway Jr., Michigan; Joe Jackson, Memphis; Meyers Leonard, Illinois; Doug McDermott, Creighton; Tony Mitchell, North Texas; and Patric Young, Florida.

Carson, a 5-foot-11 guard, played at Mesa High School in Arizona.

The team will be coached by Paul Hewitt of George Mason.

      Eric Morris needs to go

      I am torn on what to do with EM, but I know he needs to go. Many say we need a HC with head coaching experience at the FBS level. I know there are HCs at other FBS programs doing more with less, but would they come to a place where historically it's difficult to win consistently and risk it all if their eye is ultimately on a power conference job? Then if you take a P4 conference former HC, they have most likely been fired and they may not get the mojo back like Tom Herman at FAU or Charlie Strong. So, if that is the case where do we go? Many are saying no FCS HC or no more coordinators who have not been a HC at this level. Again where do we go if not those type of guys? My thought is that you may have to hire that guy that this board has been reluctant to go after. That's the guys who have had issues somewhere else and that's why they are no longer where they are. Lane Kiffin had issues and FAU gave him the chance to resurrect his career. Alabama gave Sarkisian (spelling) a chance to resurrect his career and he is doing good things at Texas. We have tried a lot of things, but we have not tried that route of HCs with some skeletons in their past. I feel that if that coach wins, people will forget about their past. I am sure people at Texas have forgotten about what went down with Sark at USC. Just my opinion because we have been striking out for a long time on HCs.

      Eric Morris needs to go

      I'm not sure what the path is for Cobbs long term. A lot of us would absolutely love to have him in a HC role in Denton, but we want to see him gain HC experience first. Do we take a chance and give him that crown? Do we watch him leave, and possibly not return...ever?
