ESPN Article

I invite each and every one of you to show the Dallas media one article at a time that UNT is where they should focus their efforts. With SMU coming in at 22k average this last year in attendance (not sure where this 25k number is coming from) and that average is over-inflated by the heavily TCU attended home game.....I just cannot see why they keep trying to force the issue of Dallas needing to back SMU. It just isn't going to happen....no matter how many bowling seasons that they acquire.

Mark my words...with the loss of Baylor on SMU's 2011 schedule we will surpass them in attendance numbers this year.

Their homes games against UTEP, NW State, UCF, Tulane, Navy and Rice will not beat out our numbers with the inception of a new stadium and new coach.

Mad libbed Funfo's post on there to show how annoying it is when people troll in our name.

UNT will never be able to relate to your average DFW college fan. UNT cannot solely rely on their alum and student body to fill stadiums which is why even with going bowling four years in a row....the attendance WILL NOT get much better. Why one might ask? Will it is about perception....and most perceive UNT to have a student body that doesn't care. TCU's fans do not have that type of stigma associated with their fans and they benefit from Ft. Worth strongly getting behind the team. Dallas will not be standing firmly behind UNT no matter how many bowls they attend during the McCarney era. I would place my "potential" scenarios on another team that resides in the metroplex within the city of Dallas. If SMU starts winning you could easily see it matching the 42k attendance that TCU boasts as their average. Let us also not forget that the 42k number is highly overvalued in that they hosted Oregon State, BYU, and Baylor last year and I saw more green on TV than I did either Purple or White. Their true attendance average is more around the 30k mark.

If you don't believe that SMU is capable of surpassing TCU's success within a couple years I would ask that you look back as recently as 1997 when TCU's only victory came by squeaking by SMU in a very close shoot-out. I believe in the Mustangs and it is about time that Dallas Media begin to alter their efforts of making something out of nothing (UNT's true potential in this market) and shift it to where the true potential (outside of TCU of course) exists.
