If Tony completes 24 hours by the end of the summer semesters, would he be eligible for the season opener? I know this was asked in another thread, but I don't recall a firm answer.

I've said it before, but it's really amazing to have a UNT player constantly included with other top players from around the nation. Not, does the UNT player really belong in the conservation with the other national caliber players, but is the UNT player ie Mr. Tony Mitchell considered to be the best player at his position or on the team!!!

Mr. Mitchell has proven all the "can he make his grades and qualify skeptics" dead wrong. As it turns out Mr. Mitchell is pretty smart young man!!!

Thank goodness K-State's coach and company made a series of boneheaded decisions regarding Mr. Mitchell's future to the benefit of UNT. From a personal standpoint I wish K-State hadn't done any of this because I wouldn't wished any of this personally happen to Mr. Mitchell.

Then enter the Big XII and Missouri's (sp) missteps qualifying Mr. Mitchell for Big XII and enrollment at Missouri. What a night mare for a young man trying to attend college so he can do the right thing to enjoy a great career in or out of Basketball.

Tony, thank you for considering UNT a college that will serve you well today and for the future. Many folks don't believe you will, but I hope you stay at UNT 4 years and get your degree before moving on to the NBA. The NBA will always be able to throw money your way, but going back to school for a degree later in life isn't as easy as everyone might have you believe.

If the players read the message board and I'm sure some do. I wanted Tony M. to understand I wasn't a UNT fan or poster who thought he wasn't smart enough to make his grades!!! Based on all that I read about Mr. Mitchell's situation prior to enrolling at UNT I was of the opinion that he and his family had been given really bad advise.

Out of respect for Tony I have consistently referred to him as Mr. Mitchell. I may not always do this in the future but based on all the talk of Tony's grades Mr. Mitchell is and was appropriate. Based on Tony's 3.2 GPA now everyone should be able to agree that Tony Mitchell isn't uneducated and wasn't trying to "game" the system by attending a charter school prior to his senior year in HS.

So happy to have him HERE.

Schools or other players trying out in that article:

Pitt

UConn

Florida

Butler

Villanova

Cal

Memphis

Michigan State

Iowa

This soon to be UNT super star hasn't stepped foot on a court yet, and this article coupled with his grades are something we UNT fans can certainly be proud and supportive of.
