So, I ran into Tony Mitchell at Chicken Express yesterday evening on my way to a UNT Alumni Assoc.-Denton Chapter Board meeting. He was having a bite with a young lady...seems he has been invited to participate in the US team try-out camp for the US u-19 squad that will represent the US in the U19 World Championships in Latvia this summer.

WOW...good deal...great PR for UNT. He thinks he will make the squad...so do I!

GO TONY...Go USA! GO MEAN GREEN! This has to be a first U-19 US Team call up) for the Mean Green...anyone know if it really is? I thought Tony was in summer school. He may well be as this camp is not a long one and neither is the tournament...I think the tournament is about a 10 day deal. Good luck Tony Mitchell!

Chicken Express is under-rated.

Dublin Dr Pepper on fountain.

Preach. You don't know how many times I have to fight with Dallasites that Chicken Express is better than Raisin Canes.

mdh0192...I am in 100% agreement with you. Chicken Express beats Raisin canes hands down...and also, the Chicken express on eagle Drive near North Texas supports UNT.

I like to support the merchants that support UNT whenever possible.

Chicken Express is awesome. But Cane's is better. And this is coming from someone who grew up with a Chicken Express. Nothing can top the Cane's Sauce, or the toast.

Cane's is overpriced, I'd rather spend another $2 and gorge myself at Babe's. The sauce is good, but they're awfully full of themselves with it by giving you so little and charging you for extra.

Cane's sauce = mayo and ketsup (and a touch of spice). What in the sam hill is special about that...and the toast is pretty common. Now, I agree the chicken is good, but i have yet to find a reason to pay the inflated price they charge over UNT loyal Chicken Express on Eagle Dr. But, I do not disagree that the chicken is good at Cane's...just better at Chicken Express.

OK, back on track here...Tony Mitchell did, indeed, make the US U19 team. Great for Tony, congratulations, and great for North Texas!

Now, just don't get hurt! Oh, and GO USA! Win the thing.

Tony is one of 13 finalists. I think they still have one more decision/cut to make.

Not being a negative Nancy, here: I think Tony's previous experience gives him a leg up on the other 8 that do not.

Report I read said Tony had made the squad. Maybe the report was a tad premature? Don't know, but it did say and I quote"UNT freshman forward Tony Mitchell, a former Pinkston standout, made the 13-player U.U. roster that will defend its gold medal in the FIBA Under-19 World Championships in Latvia from June 30-July 10." Dallas Morning News, Sports section C, page 2c..dated 6-20-11.

I think the squad is 13 strong...but, heck, you never know...maybe the report is incorrect. Either way, i think Tony is on that squad when all is said and done.

The travel sqaud is 12. One more cut needs to be made. The quote was from the USA U-19 coach a little further down in the article posted yesterday.
