For those concerned about his listing at 5'8"... Remember that Rivals can be slow in updating stats and information, particularly for less evaluated and unranked prospects. I've seen Jones listed at 5'10" and 5'11" in recent writeups. The 5'8" may be from a year or two ago.

And even if it isn't... Ray Taylor also lists at 5'8", and he doesn't have Deron Williams bloodlines.

The Illini had some beasts in the backcourt a few years ago; I vaguely recalled a two-headed monster....was Deron a part of that?

Jones will go to prep school for a year. Same approach to D-1 ball as what Tristan Thompson and Alzee Williams did.

No idea whether he's still interested in us at this point, or whether Coach Benford would want to pursue... But we'll roll him over as a 2013 recruit.

Wonder why NT seems to be after so many point guards. With two freshmen and one sophomore on the team now, it does not appear to be a priority.

Jones was one of our earliest identified 2012 recruits. There hasn't been much indication that either Coach Jones or Coach Benford were/are in pursuit, at least not since summer of 2011.

But... He was a player of interest at one point, and one of the things we want to do with this forum is better track who we talk to and where they end up.
