Mean Green Golf Heads To NCAA Central Region

DENTON (5/6/03)- The NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee has placed the 2003 Sun Belt Conference Champion North Texas men's golf team in the Central Region as the 19th seed. The Mean Green will compete for a spot in the NCAA Championship at the Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kansas from May 15-17.

The top 10 teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships May 27-30 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The top two individuals from non-advancing schools at each regional will also advance to the national tournament.

The Mean Green enter the field red-hot as they have won their last two tournaments and are getting great individual play from Brad Besler and Zach Atkinson. Besler won the Sun Belt Conference Individual Championship while Atkinson placed third and earned All-Conference honors for a second straight year.
