Lance Dunbar And Bobby Rainey

Very interesting when you look at these two players and while I am always going to lean to Dunbar it's hard not to be impressed with what WKU's Rainey pulled off last season. There are certainly a number of similarities between the two when you examine their profiles and stats.

They are similar in size as Dunbar is listed at 5-9, 203 and Rainey at 5-8, 205. Neither player had any I-AA's on the schedule to pad their stats and what is particularly impressive is both had big games against good non conference opponents. In Rainey's case he had a 155-yard game against Nebraska and 188-yard outing against Kentucky. Of course Lance had an amazing 266 against K-State as well as an impressive outing against Clemson (116). Rainey had more total yards (1649) but had more carries (340 compared to Dunbar's 244) and Dunbar had a better per carry average (5.7 versus 4.9). The season reception total was very close with Rainey hauling in 29 and Dunbar just one shy at 28. Dunbar did better in yards after catch with 332 yards gained compared to Rainey's 230. Both had exactly 16 touchdowns for the season although three of Dunbar's came from the air.

Should be fun to watch these guys battle it out this coming season!
