I actually get jazzed when offensively explosive teams come into Denton or on the road look up almost 10 minutes in and are striving for 10 points or if they have calculated us right are driving for 20. It’s takes almost a half for their smelling salt to kick in when they are not sure what to expect. That is why teams that come out and punch us in the face first or soon often fare better.
In Wichita the pregame hosts on the local radio were predicting a tough battle with UNT winning like 85-81. I laughed a bit because it is hard to imagine point totals that high watching our identity of a program. We’re not Utah State Boise State which haul up and down the court.
I love our grit!

The league probably wants to know who's gonna be the best matchup for a linear TV spot. Here are the league's choices:
Temple at UNT
UAB at Tulsa
Army at UTSA
Charlotte at Tulane
ECU at FAU
Rice at South Florida
Navy at Memphis
Honestly Army/UTSA and Navy/Memphis would be games of greatest interest. And I'd hate to see DATCU with 5K people on national TV.
I think his commitment to this university so far speaks volumes. He’s a fantastic coach and maybe an even better person. He has roots and connections in HS and college bball in this state for over 30 years as a player and coach. We are truly lucky to have him. I was watching old YouTube interviews of the early Grant years and he always glowed when asked about Hodge specifically. We gotta keep supporting the program and do our part. Hope our school sees it in my eyes as well. Would love to see him here for 15+ more years, he’s still “just a kid!” as the sopranos would say! (He’s 44 years old) 😂
