Definitely not what I had in mind...

Was it communicated out anywhere at one time that we WOULD be able to go into the stadium, or did I just assume I would get to go into the stadium to pick?

I'll still be there though. I think the parking selection will be worth the trip itself.

Glad to know that. I'm going to be out of town the day of my scheduled appointment and was thinking of asking for a proxy. But if it's just picking from a chart I'll just mail instructions on preferences to the staff pick a seat.

I thought they communicated early on that we would only be able to see the site lines virtually during the selection process. Either way, I'll be there in person to enjoy the full experience.

I don't recall it ever being mentioned that people would be able to go into the stadium to select seats. That's why I made sure to get a stadium tour before seat selection time. I was always under the impression that one would be selecting from a seating chart and also using the virtual view software without the benefit of being able to go into the stadium itself.

Right - you would think that if you could get into the stadium, why have appointments? They could just have everyone line up on a Saturday in order and then open the doors like it was a Filene's Basement Sale.

It is completely absurd to think that people spending 10k would want to see their seat location (for the next five years) in person. Why would anyone even assume that would be the case? Absurd.

Yawn.....ample opportunity to take a tour of the stadium going back several months. Don't think anyone will make a bad choice based on not being able to go sit in the seat ahead of time...especially when all the seats aren't in as yet. Plus...if you don't like your seats after selecting them, you will have ample opportunity to move to an open seat location later...from what i have seen of the stadium, there really will not be a bad seat in the place...sight lines are great from every angle i was able to see while on my tour.

I am sure you are completely respectful in mockingly yawning someone willing to put up that kind of money for your school.

You will not have ample oppurtunity to move seats at a later time. There will be about 60 open seats in each section.. which they will continue to sell during the time we aren't there for a game. So on game day, there may be 30 left. That doesn't seem so ample for someone that may have a top pick and they just throw a dart at the whiteboard and hope there isn't a column in front of them.

This AD needs to stop acting like it is amatuer hour and do things top notch. I am sure there is ample oppurtunity for those who are local, retired or/and completely in the pocket of the AD staff. Out of staters or the slightly out of touch with Denton, not so much.

How about an 'open house' for people to come see the seats on a given day? Or maybe open the stadium for looking for one hour each day of the selection and anyone on that day can come see it live in person? I know, those are completely baffling ideas. Mind blowing in fact. How about seat selection days when people can actually attend? I guess I can fly in to Dallas, rent a car, pick my seat in a closed off room with cheap laptops and then mark off the my seats on a whiteboard. That sounds top notch!

You shouldn't mock people's dismay at some news. It may be small to you, but over time people have built up chips on their collective shoulders regarding the way this AD operates. From cold chicken finger boxes at the MGC road tent, to misadvertising event times, to direct misleading on how the seat selection process will work, to my seat backs never being installed for the first couple of games EVERY season, to festival parking and arguing with attendants (that eventually led to my whole crew stopping to tailgate), to nose bleed seats for NCAA games, to not being able to exchange a shirt on MGG without outrageous shipping costs, to many other *small* things that just add up over the years in the fanbases' collective mind.

Does the stop some like me from giving my money? No not yet, but I would love to see some progress instead of lip service.

So go ahead, mock people that are disappointed in the amateur hour style of the seat selection, I am happy you are happy with it. I feel like yawning too.

For what it's worth, I am sure the sight lines will be good. I bet they have better food than the Coors Light beer fridge and cookies cut in half that they had in the suite at Fouts. I hope the parking works out great and will be better than the weekly changing festival parking.

I am sure it will all work out. But for the money it costs to get in their club, seems they would want to make everyting as transparent and awesome as possible so the checkbooks keep open.

The chip on shoulder thing is real and it keeps people away from the AD.

Is it possible the school doesn't have the C of O of the stadium yet, (still belongs to HKS) and therefore cannot really "tour" people through it due to liability issues?

No doubt.

But I would rather do seat selection in July after they have the keys. Would that make it a hectic summer for the AD? No doubt. But this is a big commitment for a lot of us, and it would be nice to see the property in which we are investing.

And I second the out of area comment from JD. I only live 4 counties away, yet circumstances have not permitted me a stadium tour (Lord knows I have tried). I can only imagine how tough it is for an out of stater.

During my last discussion with someone from the Athletic Department, I was told that they don't have a lot of flexibility on when they can schedule stadium tours until it is released from HKS. This was in reference for something planned right around the time of the seat selection process, so I think you are on to it.

Besides, I can't imagine how long seat selection would take if people were giving time to run around and sit in the different seats at their selection time. They'd have to be escorted for obvious reasons. If folks want to check out the views before hand, I agree with KRAM1 that they should schedule time for a tour ahead of time.

I don't see anything wrong with doing it the way it's planned. It goes by priority points which would pretty much exclude trying to do it on one day. You can have a proxy to try to get what's available near where you'd like to be. This is not rocket science; just go with the flow.

Count me as one who somehow thought the selection process was 'by hand.' Not sure how so many assumed that incorrectly.

What exactly is the purpose of taking a half day off work to do a 'virtual selection?'

I agree with JD, I was super excited not only about the selection but also the belief that this was going to be an experience like nothing I've done before. Instead, it's going to be the same process as my buying Tellatubbies on Ice tickets via Ticketmaster.

Obviously it isn't rocket science and I have gone with the flow for quite some time.

1. It didn't have to be done with their arbitrary "priority points."

2. They didn't tell us it was based on priority points until very late in the game.

3. They were saying it would be based on a variety of other things.

4. Who cares? It isn't your problem. But it is your problem, because this little stuff is really irritating the people who can/do pay the bills. 6 of the people I brought on board for the club level (new MGC members BTW) already regret their purchase. They are stressed by the unknown of where they will sit and how they won't be assured to be by their pals on gamedays.

Unfortunately for them, my family fluid mechanics and dynamics is flowing in a much easier direction with less obstacles and stress.

Let this be my farewell to GMG. I am out.

man...this is starting to turn into the wrinkled $100 bill argument...

this is probably a once in a lifetime thing that many want it done in a total hands on approach. i have no idea how other schools do this, but our school isn't doing it this way. i would love to get into the stadium before selecting, but that isn't possible...cool...next option is to pick my seats in person from a chart that you can see where the available seats are...great...i'll know all my options and could communicate with others that i want to sit next too...i really don't see the problem with this other than disappointment of not being able to get into the stadium first...life goes on...there are much worse things in life to complain about.

while I thought you raised some points that were legitimate (at least in your own eyes) I have to admit that your attempt to delete your profile sort of discredits and undermines anything you had to say. Why would you be so dramatic to post your unsuccessful attempt to delete your profile on the board?

Everything is done by priority points now. The AD has done a lot to help people increase their points by giving to MGC before a certain date, pre-paying for season tickets, etc.

Priority points is the best way to reward people who are regular contributors to the program by allowing them first access to the best possible seats over people who are buying tickets for 1 game a year.

I'm excited about getting to choose where I sit as this was never an option for me when I first got FB season tickets at Fouts.

I can't believe that a GMG.com moderator just went bats*** crazy on the board and then vowed to quit posting on the board. All this, the day after Osama Bin Laden was killed... Strange times we live in folks. Strange indeed.
