Craig is proving the point I was trying to make last week regarding the weak play in college basketball. Sure, everyone thinks it's fun to talk about VCU and Butler in the final four but no one wants to watch that garbage for the title game. UConn included, neither team deserved to be in that game if you were hoping to match up the two best teams in the country.

If college players were forced to remain in school for at least 2 years (hopefully 3) I think we'd see the best teams rise to the top and the mid major run in the tourney more special. As it stands right now, it's so common it's not as special as it had been in the past.

It was just one of those nights dude. It's not like Butler had been shooting 18% for the entire tournament. Sometimes crap just happens. If you had told me before the game that Connecticut would only hit 34% and Kemba Walker would go 5-19, then I would've taken Butler. Sometimes, it's just not your night, and it wasn't Butler's. A few of those layups going in - and they would've won. Their defense is just nasty.

Pick a champion from the 90s/early 2000s. Have them play that Butler team 10 times. How many games does Butler win? 1 or 2 at the most.

Impossible for me, or anyone to say. Old timers ask(say) the same thing about anyone since the great UCLA teams of the 70's that won by 30 a game. Who the eff knows.

Miller is a homer for seeing the same teams playing for the championship every year. Frankly, I could care less about story lines that date back to the 1800s and that how these 2 schools have played each other 1000 times and that they are amazingly 499-501 in the series.

I guess I just have a hard time understanding how everyone doesn't feel that way. I like the occasional upset but when it becomes common place it loses it's luster. Plus, like Miller said, I enjoy seeing 5-6 future nba stars in the final four. Not 3-4 future nba role players.

If you like seeing the same laundry every year, you will hide behind this argument that improved laundry would be a better product... if you like seeing new laundry(and I do), then you are going to say it was an off night for both teams.... scholarship limits and one and dones have watered down the big programs... if butler is not there, it would be an obviously flawed team in familiar laundry...probably. The laundry does NOT improve the play, unless it gives you comfort. Butler earned their spot.

I am getting pretty tired of people whining because a big name did not win the spot. How about this.... win your freakin games and earn your spot. That is the purpose behind a tournament to begin with.... jeez almighty.

You're right. Why bother with this gigantic inclusive tournament, when we could just follow something akin to the good ole BCS format and have the winners of the "power conferences" fight it out after their respective tournaments? Makes so much more sense, because the big money teams are the only ones worthy of the title of NCAA National Champion. I'm sure everyone would be thrilled with that arrangement.

Would you like to see UNT in the NCAA final game with UCONN?

If yes, your argument is defeated.

If no, what are you doing here?

Ok, every student/alumni of Butler should of course enjoy these runs. And of course, if UNT made a run like that I'd be super excited.

I'm not even saying I liked UConn or UK in there either.

Not trying to dog the mid major teams, just going through a 'good 'ol days' thing. I don't remember ripping on UNT basketball or saying anything worth all the hate you guys throw my direction. Just that I'd prefer to have the best players stay around a few years and being able to stomach college basketball again.

Most of you need to understand that a message board is a place to post opinions and discuss. Not dog pile on someone who shares a different thought than you do.

I know, why don't we just make it double elimination for the power conference programs, so that we would almost assuredly have something like a Kansas/Duke matchup every year? Who needs these fluke VCU over Kansas games screwing up the entire pecking order? I'm tired of all that Cinderella this, Cinderella that crap anyway, because it really takes all the fun out of the tournament experience. Go power conferences!

One thing we could consistently do this year was to put the ball in the hole with regularity, so I suspect that you're right.

I don't know...those 2 defenses could have smothered us.

Look, I'm not saying I hate the Cinderella. I just hate 4 Cinderellas meeting in the final 4.

I appreciate the applause. I'm accepting of any new fans these days.

Tap the brakes on the "fan" talk. You've got a long way to go before I start giving you anymore of my -1.

Maybe so, but if our strategy were to attack the bucket, our great FT shooting team probably could have scored nearly as many points from the line as Butler scored in total.

I bet even UNT could have beaten Butler and Uconn last night.

Seeing all the upsets this year does make that last second UALR 3 pointer sting just a little more in retrospect.

THIS is how fishing should be done. I applaud eppster for stepping up his game.

No doubt. A tip of my hat to Epp here. Framed it out in a much more sophisticated way this time.

BTW...I love the avatar that Eppy adopted.
