You all don't get it - its top 50 teams that count for the NCAA and they will fill the stadium if we schedule them

- TCU & SMU are odds and sods when it comes to B-Ball

- if we are 0-1 next season against top 50 teams and do not win our tournament

-we will not be considered for any post season tournaments

Dump the Odds and Sods and fill the Super Pit with a schedule of top 50 Teams and fill the Super Pit to the limit

It is not all that easy to get teams to play us in the Super Pit when we beat just about everyone that comes here to play. Johnny Jones has never lost to a Big 12 team at the Super Pit. I'm sure the top teams in that conference and others will not be cheap to bring to Denton...

I doubt we get a big bump in attendance with an SMU home game. SMU would bring NO ONE to the pit from their"fan base."

This ain't the football forum, folks. We got bigger fish to fry than these 2 wastes of basketball programs.

SMU vs UNT would have a much better than average crowd at either place. I do think NT fans would benefit SMU more at Moody than SMU fans at the Pit. You might want to remember that NT's only sell out at the SP was against SMU. SMU also drew very well at Fouts despite being one very bad program playing another.

If you are referring to SMU as the "big boy" in your scenario, then you are as dumb as you sound. I don't know many self-proclaimed "big boys" that get 1,000 fans on a good night, when the so-called little guy draws over 4,000 nightly. Say what you want, but SMU just lost the best player they have had in forever and was .500 against division one teams. The only corner you have turned is from bad to mediocre, congratulations.

Lol, its glick, master of the drive-by. Big boy would be any team in a superior conference, w/better facilities, more money, more prestige etc. You know, schools/programs, that for whatever reason, have more clout and get to determine the nature of the relationship. You have to make backyard brawls appealing to those schools, not just say we're pretty good at hoops, let's play. I told you how to leverage SMU into a potential game etc. I've seen it done that way, time & again, even provided an example. It doesn't matter in the slightest, if you draw 3k or SMU draws 1k, doesn't even enter the equation. That doesn't mean anything in the scope of getting a game like this done. Like SMU is giddy over the possibility of a 5k turnout at Moody, as an enticement for the game,. Get real and bring something to the table. Would you take a 2 for 1? lol

And this is where your school's ego comes into play. While it doesn't require empirical evidence to know that SMU is better funded, holds a far larger endowment (not where it counts), in a conference that remains (to date) superior in ranking and stature to the Belt and so on. What is certain however is that the prestige of the programs are not nearly on the same level. UNT has been steadily increasing it's basketball program's prestige wherein SMU has been the doormat of the CUSA for a very long time. As with football...even if your basketball program were to improve...I would seriously doubt that attendance to basketball events would. Why? Because people cannot get behind a school of self-centered pampered trust fund babies who pride themselves on displaying the least tolerable public statement of condescension without getting knocked out for saying them. People look at SMU and laugh....same as many look at UNT and laugh. The difference is that I will take the laughs and jeers that we are getting currently over the laughter that SMU receives. My reasoning is simple...in that I know that once both programs (North Texas Football and Basketball) start winning and making waves then noone will be laughing. Wherein SMU has been winning bowls in football and still noone cares. Not the fanbase (as exemplified by attendance woes)...not the casual DFW sports fan.... noone.

If that is the higher level of prestige and "big boy" mentality that comes with being a SMU....then I will pass on that action. I would much rather beg a team of the Big 12 to do a 2 for 1 than ever have to beg SMU to come into the court so that we can publicly humiliate both your program and your school. If your AD and powers to be feel that there is too much at stake by losing to North Texas then so be it.... we don't need to play you. I will be happy to call it for what it is...that SMU did not have the scro to meetup on the court. Let's not pretend that this is anything different than that very scenario.

lol, we will take our two home games this year and next as a favor to you... this allows you time to improve to the point that you can make it competitive at home... I fear the smu faithful fifteen fans would go home very disappointed this year or next.

Well - I am not sure that I can remember any top 50 teams in the last five years that came to the Super Pit that we won against

- Can you give me a name of a team that was in the top 50 when we played them that we won the game?

I think we finally have enough evidence to determine that HoopManX really knows nothing about basketball, is not well connected in the area, and is simply your average SMU fan overflowing with unbridled pretentiousness and arrogance.

Nobody outside of your tiny bubble in Dallas looks at SMU as a big boy in any way, shape, or form. You, my friend, are the one that needs to get real. There are plenty of teams that play in worse conferences than SMU and have more clout than SMU on the hardwood. Take Western Kentucky, for example, much better program, facility, tradition, wins, more prestige than SMU, in fact it isn't even close. They play in the Sun Belt. Does SMU have better facilities than UNT right now? I am not so sure about that, at least after this fall. I could care less about playing SMU, we have bigger fish to fry. If you think SMU's players are going to be excited to play in front of less than 1k fans then you are wrong yet again. I am fine playing UTA every year as they are better than TCU and SMU anyway. I know that you probably laugh at that because you are so high on a bunch of players that have never played college basketball, on a team that just lost by far its best player, but as hard as it is for you to hear it is true. You have turned no corners, and your coach will find a way to leave you wondering why most of these players never developed into what they could have. While we will probably make it to the NCAA's 5 more times before you win a game in your conference tournament, or beat a team from a real conference. Good luck, you will need it.

I don't think I said there were any...I just said it would be hard to get them to come.

It's been rumored that you guys love money and stuff? I believe 5k (rather than <1K) at the gate would be pretty good enticement to play a game against lil' ol' UNT. Ask your A.D. Now, is that $ worth more than the black eye you are sure to take with the game? Maybe not.

Get real and bring something to the table.

I thought we did that? A winning basketball program. Dont you want to try and beat a winner? That way, maybe SMU could be a winner too!

Would you take a 2 for 1? lol

Oh, now you're just pandering... Get back to breaking down local b-ball talent. That's what you're good at.

Wasn't OSU ranked in the top 50 when they came to the Super Pit and got taken down by the Mean Green?
