FAU

@ Miami (FL)

Probably the last one of these threads till November (oh well). I think the Owls have a decent shot for the upset if they get out to a fast start. If not, it's probably curtains.

FAU really had a shot when they were within 6. I believe they had three possessions in a row where they kept Miami from scoring, but the Owls couldn't get a bucket either. Now Miami regained control is is starting to pound FAU.

Miami 85

FAU 62

Seems like a fitting end to the Belt season. <_< On a positive note, with that loss, we now have the best winning percentage of all Belt teams this year at 22-11 (FAU ends the season at 21-11).

It really is tragic. Is our league really that bad that not even 1 team could emerge? I know speaking out loud here.

Couldn't even make it to Thursday, wild!

Yeah, IMO the shame is that our team (at least in the month of March) was the only good team in the SBC when reasonably healthy . That's why it's so sad that we didn't continue the season in one venue or another.

Very fitting end to a bad season. The Belt needs to winning NCAA tournament games (first four games don't count) in the next two years or the NCAA tournament payout will start dropping.

No, I'm nearly positive first 4 games count in the payout.

Yeah I think you are right. Prior to this year the play in game winner didn't get an "extra" share. Now that there are four games and power conference teams likely to be in some of them they are included.

Of course that means UALR had the chance to get a second share this year and didn't get it done. :growl:

You get a share for playing in the first four but you don't get an extra share for advancing to the "second" round. I'll see if I can find a source for that.

I'm pretty sure ArkStFan said you do (on the Belt board) -- and he's a really credible source for that sorta stuff.

I think you are right. I read a story that said you didn't but looking on NCAA website it says you get a share for each game except championship game. If true, that's a little bone that the NCAA threw to the small conferences. Now it is way better to be in first four game than other #15 or #16 seed games. Damn UALR cost the best some pretty good money (about $1.5M - $250K per year for next 6 years).

That's $1.5M for whole conference. I don't know how Sun Belt divides between members but should be no more than $135K for North Texas.

Seem to remember that the SBC divides post season proceeds. The school that participates may get a slightly larger share of the proceeds off the top. Good question for Vito or RV.

With any luck, this won't be a problem to us as we will have moved on to a better conference.

I wouldn't bet the farm on this. I think the SBC will be our home for a while, unfortunately.
