I like FAU's chances against Miami

So do I actually. Miami has shown a propensity for not closing out games. They probably won't have a big crowd (I can see FAU having nearly as many people), and the Owls will be more way excited.

Sitting at home should be enough motivation to continue to recruit better players. (And never be content with the guys coming back) Winning the conference tournament is not a guarantee. We should always be dressed up for a party (NCAA's or NIT) when we fail to land the automatic bid. Good luck to all the schools selected.

I like NT's chances against, oh wait, we got left out. I understand FAU being in because they won the regular season, but NT was the other finalist in the conference tourny.

Sorry, I'm just bitchy 'cuase I'm in the middle of a 28 hour day.

So how are NIT teams picked? Forgive my ignorance, but I've never paid much attention to the NIT.

NIT takes regular season champions that don't win their league tourney, and then what they consider the next best teams after the NCAA's field. Usually is's pretty close to the next best RPI's.

Screw them. If they disband their program...THEN more power to em.

Thoroughly agree. And yes SMU did get a bid to a tourney we apparently turned down. We should not only have more incentive to recruit but also to upgrade our OOC schedule to boost the RPI. If you've been a UNT fan long enough you know why Ponies are most bitter enemy UNT has.

You mean they paid for the chance to play at least one extra game.

How did McNeese get in and not NT?

Automatic bid for winning the SLC regular season championship. Unfortunately, I suspect we had quite a few people ahead of us in the NIT line. That is surprising to see McNeese hosting BC. BC had quite a few big wins including one over TX A&M. Maybe they are just tired of baked beans and hungry for Cajun food.

Boston College would have hosted the game (they are a 1 seed and has the option to host the first 3 rounds) but they share their building with the hockey team, and apparently that team already had it scheduled for the week. So the Eagles travel to McNeese.
