SMU, who was considered a dark horse to win the CUSA Tourney, went out to Rice tonight. They'll probably buy their way into the CBI or CIT though.

Their failure is even sweeter considering their two page thread celebrating our loss and trashing our conference.

That is the only reason I chose to mention it. If they hadn't had that 3 page thread gleefully cheering our demise and comparing our league champ to a 3rd rate CUSA team - than I wouldn't give a crap about them.

Possible giant karma kick in the nuts for a group of our fans going over there to cheerlead UALR at the beginning of the season when we should just ignore the Poneys completely?

according to HoopmanX (who I will now bash at every opp)

"UNT possibly going 3 out of 5 years doesn't really effect us. I know UNT faithful hate me for this, but that league is simply atrocious. Kudos for their accomplishments, but had they gone this year, it wouldn't have made them good. It just meant they survived the SBC tourney. I appreciate Jones and what he's done, and think UNT has a bunch of good fans. I'm not particularly jealous of their success though. Major conferences look at CUSA and say, the best CUSA squad is mid-tier in our league, at best. I look at the Sun Belt about the same way. Winning that league this year, makes you a bottom 3rd CUSA team, or that's my take, anyway."

So why do we allow him to post on this board again? Is he one of those misguided know-it-alls that actually believes that SMU would beat UNT this year? I don't care if the game was the first of the season....right in the middle of our slump...or the very last one...SMU would have been used and abused by our squad. When oh when do we get to prove this to them? I wish their director would grow a pair and allow it to happen.

Wait... there was a 3 page thread about our loss on Ponyfans... dogging our team and conference? And there isn't an independent thread on our board highlighting nasty posts and multiple pages of our own"Rabble Rabble Rabble!". It's almost like we dont give a sh!t what a program that can't mop our teams sweat thinks... please excuse my self satisfied grin.

They're threatened. Let compare the following:

Football Stadium? NT

Basketball Arena? NT

Basketball Team? NT

Football Team? SMU, but not for long.

Overall Facilities? NT

Perceived prestige of a degree? SMU

Real World application of degree? NT

Douchery? SMU by a long shot.

Douchery? SMU by a long shot.

SMU: Successfully defending the Douchery National Championship since 1911.

EDIT: Texas and SMU tied many of those years, but SMU won the tiebreak by having absolutely nothing to back up their arrogance...except for all those years they bought their football team...

So, just to clarify, their claim is they would beat Unt and ualr. The "we are better now" logic discounts their 10 point loss to ualr. I guess the poor old sun belt teams are incapable of improving throughout a season, atleast not at the rate of the "great" smu. Meow

The only cusa team we played, we beat, but we would finish in the bottom 3rd of cusa.... of course rice just served smu a steaming plate of one and done in the cusa tourney. meow

For a school that views themselves as being intellectually superior, their message board peeps do like to make claims that don't have to be backed up on the court or with directly comparable results. Why don't they sack up and prove it by getting us into cusa? According to them, it could do nothing but prove them right. Their league would have an additional large university that could just help add to their win totals. It would be a win win for us and smu. They could further impose their supposed "superiority" over us.

Do it smu, I dare you... when will the ponies whinny and stop meowing?

On a side note, meowing is not particularly intimidating...

So if we are using hoopmanx's reasoning, where winning the Sun Belt equals a bottom 3rd team in CUSA, and SMU lost to the Sun Belt Champions who we beat twice this year, where does that put the ponies? I'm struggling with his logic but I think it would make them a mid-tier squad in the Women's Lone Star Conference.

Considering SMU lost to the team (by 10 points) that won the SBC, I don't think they have a lot of credibility to trash our conference.
