And while some would look at tonight's last second loss with pain and sorrow... I can only feel so proud of what our boys accomplished not only this season but throughout their entire 4 years here at North Texas. I cannot be prouder of THE TURNAROUND THEY have provided to our basketball team and our accomplishments as a basketball school in the last 4 yrs. If 1 pt is what causes us to not be in the Tourney then I say so be it. Just 1 pt separated a team from visiting the Tourney 3 times in 4 yrs. Is that a bad record? Did the team play badly? Was Josh's 3 pointer at the end not a great feeling? It just so happens that UALR made a very commendable run for the win.....one that is making ESPN highlights everywhere I am looking.

The bottom line is that this class of seniors in combination with our beloved coach and devoted fans have created a new dynasty for their own legacy to carry on. We have the best recruiting class in any sport we have ever landed and you can only expect that we will have some more championship games here in the very near future. I have only been on this board a little over a year and I only graduated in 2007 without having a previous 2 cents on anything UNT.....but I can tell you that tonight more than ever....I feel prouder than ever to be a part of the Mean Green family.

I was out tonight at a non-watching party. My girlfriend is a bartender/nurse (best of both worlds) and she (though she went to Tech) turned all 5 TVs onto the UNT game for the entire restaurant and bar to watch. Though it was non-interesting to most at first......the entire place was into it in the last five minutes and everytime you saw us slip or UALR score the noise was getting noticeable. The place (filled with ALUM of UT, Minnesota, Tech etc) was pulling and rooting for UNT. Most were asking me about our program and who our players were. All laughed at how buff and awesome Shannon Shorter's GMa looked on TV (most realizing that she could whoop their ace). I loved the exposure...and I was as proud as I ever have been to be a UNT fan.

I cannot wait....and it won't be long....before this school and our athletic programs gets all the attention we deserve. We deserve it because we are the most diehard type of fans. Any of us could root for UT, Texas A&M and many other "popular" schools....but we choose to stick it out with a school that we are both proud in and believe in. That is the UNT spirit that I have come to know. I cannot wait to see our football team take to the field and I definitely cannot wait until next year's BBall class hits the court next season.

Awesome post.

It is hard to complain when I didn't even expect them to be playing in this game.

Good luck ARLR. I look forward to the day when we bust onto the scene like San Diego State did this year. That time is coming and the Mean Green gave us a great thrill and a lot to look forward to.

Heads up Mean Green team and fans!

The Nation is growing.
