I talked to my neighbor Thomas Sitton yesterday. He is the head football coach at Tyler Chapel Hill High School and has been a high school coach in Texas for 15 years. One of his players, Laramie Lee, was a 2011 UNT recruit.

Laramie played running back and linebacker for Chapel Hill – but was recruited as a safety by UNT.

You may remember Lee’s great 2010 stats, and Thomas told me that it was his opinion that Laramie Lee was one of the top five football players in all of East Texas in 2010.

He also told me that there are several players of similar quality coming through his program over the next few years and that he would like to see more of his players end up at UNT.

The Chapel Hill tie to UNT? Sitton’s wide receivers coach is Jeremy Lloyd who was a two-year All-Big 12 starting linebacker for Dan McCarney at Iowa State.

Just thought I would pass on the information.

Well then this should be this year's target at 35 yards per kick return last year.

Deaveron Dean

Could be - Dean is the son of the Chapel Hill High School principal. The father played for Chapel Hill when they won the 4-A state championship in 1989 (I think it was '89).

In 2010 CH also had two super running backs in addition to Laramie Lee, although Laramie was the leading rusher with 1,400 yards or so. One of them is Matthew Tucker's brother (Matthew is a running back at TCU) and in my opinion, having seen both of them play, if he is not as good as Matthew, he is close. He will be a senior in 2011.

The Chapel Hill QB is Avery Saenz (5’10”, 170). He will be a senior in 2011. Although he is not as large as one would like for a QB, he is among the most accurate passers I have seen at the 3-A level and has a strong arm. He is very cool in the pocket as well as on roll-outs and scrambles. His QB rating is pretty high. If he has a growth spurt in his senior year, he will be quite a recruit for some university.

touche.....but I also don't know when they started letting him take kick off returns. Could have been late in the year.

Either way, it's a pretty small body of work to judge by that stat alone. Take away the big return, and he averages 25 yards a return. The fact that he took one all the way with only 5 returns is a good sign, but I'd hold the scholly offer for now.

True...what I meant was this year's target in Tyler since I didn't see anything else that stood out. Thought these stats are impressive on the defensive side:

Stat 2010 Season

Tackles 97

Tackle Assists 36

Sacks 1

Sack Yards 3

Forced Fumbles 2

Interceptions 6

Interception Yards 76

Longest Interception 34

Based on that, I'd offer him. Our secondary play hasn't been great lately.
