Cam Won't Be Back Next Year

According the D-RC today...his 6th year was denied. It was hard to tell last night.....as even though they honored him as a senior....he wasn't on the game scorecard (with the other seniors). But anyway, at least now we know...and can plan accordingly.

So that leaves two scholarships open for next year?

It will be interesting to see what JJ can do with those now that Tony Mitchell is on board.

Yes we have two more... and I am very curious about this going forward. Probably more curious then I have ever been about recruits before. Although it would be nice to stack the team with the best available players, would that take away from chris jones or Jordan Williams potential and ability to to lead the team... say if we get a Jarion Henry, does it affect the others. Maybe we should get a nice transfer. And that is the first time I have ever said that on these boards haha. (We also do need another big which Henry may work but still)

If Jarion Henry wants to come to UNT, I don't think there is any way you say no to him. He is after all a 4* recruit. He would add to Jordan Williams and Chris Jones, plus he and Jordan already have some chemistry.

If Jarion does not come, pulling in a couple transfers from BCS schools would be nice. Nolan Dennis would be awesome if he can get healthy. Also if a solid JUCO big man is out there, that may be a good option as well.

I'm pretty excited, because I think we have a core of guys set for next year that highly rated recruits/transfers are going to want to be a part of.

We need to find a Eric Tramiel/George Odufuwa type JUCO with one of those ships. A transfer does us no good until 2012-2013.

Sorry to hear it, because I was fairly impressed with some of the minutes he put in last year after getting in decent game shape. We need a big body in a big way, because if Knox isn't quite ready for primetime next year, I would prefer that TM/Hogans not have to spend too much time guarding the opponents main big. BOL to Cam.

I have not talked to either one of them, ever, so I don't have any first hand knowledge...they seem to be working out ok together at Kimball though.

For what it's worth... I talked to Cam Spencer's dad for about 3 seconds after the Senior Night ceremonies. He said that there's still an appeal they can and will file with the NCAA to try and get Cam that 6th year.

Obviously, people are planning for a future without him on the roster. But there's still at least one more opening to try and get him eligible for one more season.

I did like the fact they brought Cam out to center court to honor him, but held off on the framed jersey. A nice way to let him get his ovation and still leave the door open to wear the home white again.

Per Vito, it looks like they just couldn't get the jersey framed in time.
