Former Dentonite Garland Warren honored by Texas State with helmet sticker. Garland graduated from Denton high, was a star player for the Broncos, lettered 3 years at NT and was a CFL All-Star player. Heard that years back, something happened to make him disconnect from North Texas.

Did you notice his player card is written in English and French ?

I'll ask Ken Bahnsen if he knows about the riff between GW and NT

French is the official language of Montreal and the province of Quebec.

Thanks 61.

I spoke with Ken just now (Monday 2-14) and asked about Garland Warren. Ken told me that he knew of no problem with North Texas but of a real loyality to the people of San Marcos where his chain of stores are located. Ken even told me the story of the 'midnight milk' and Garland's feeling a need for a late night convenience store. But again, no knowledge of hard feelings.

Guess we need to make George Strait an honorary NT Ex now?

Seriously, he was just doing the "community thing" since that was where he landed after his football days. Amazing how that probably has even happened for UNT a few times if someone would merely do the checking. For instance, the Utter family of Denton were big SMU'ers but Papa Bill did very much for the Mean Green. The late Robert Dedman got his Bachelors at UT but SMU certainly benefitted from him years later.

GMG!
