Please...everyone on the list respond with a "yes" I am still playing or a "no". Also...I need T-shirt sizes and playing/height/weight,experience, etc. info from everyone for the player draft. You can go into the blog to do all this as it has been set up for that very purpose. Let's get it ON! This should be tons of fun.

We are still looking for a local place to hold the "after-event" awards ceremony and festivities. Would like the place to sponsor the event as I feel they would more than cover the cost of the sponsorship in the sales of after-event food and beverages. Does anyone have a contact with a local spot that might be interested?

Also we are selling sponsorships to individuals and businesses alike. Sponsorships run from $50 for a business card size ad in the event program to $150 for a full page ad. In addition the title sponsor ($250) will have their logo on the game day t-shirts, will be able to have coupons, literature, etc. passed out to participants and spectators and will be recognized game day. I hope to find that local "establishment" that would like to sponsor at the Title Sponsor $250 level as I really do think they will more than cover their cost of sponsorship from after event sales. PLEASE help if you can with a sponsorship at any level or with the Title Sponsor.

Also, individual donations would be greatly appreciated as well. If you want a game day "Classic" event t-shirt yo can pay $25 and I will have one made for you...just need your name and size.

If you can personally help with a donation of any size it would go a long way in helping our UNT Cheer Squad raise some much needed funds. These are great ambassadors for UNT and spend many many hours and lots of their own money in trying to represent UNT. Let's see if we can't help and have a great time as well.

Many thanks to all who are supporting this event or considering doing so. BTW, the Cheer Squad is also out trying to sell sponsorships and will be involved with us in this event. Kram, what is the drop dead date for sign ups. I am coaching baseball again this year and won't know my game schedule for some time. I would hate to deprive everyone of my mediocre (at best) basketball skill (not pluralized since I don't know that I have more than one).

It sounds like lots of fun though and it is for a good cause, the only hang up (like last year's football game) is coaching baseball.

Army, well at this time there is no "drop dead" date as we are still a month out, but if I had to set one I would say, by the close of business on FRIDAY MARCH 11th. That would give us two weeks to get the game shirts printed and any other purchases or arrangements firmed up. Think the schedules will be out by then? When does spring baseball kick off? Really appreciate your interest. Hope you can play...if not I may try to twist your arm regarding a contribution to the cause.

OK, time for a plug....the donations button on the GMG.com board has stagnated at the $90 level. We have a ways to go to reach the $500 goal from that site. I just want to encourage you to consider a donation to the cause. We have a great event brewing and the cause is a good one. Lots of your GMG.com and Mean Green Nation members/friends have either donated, signed up to play, mailed checks directly to me and handed me donations, but we still have a long way to go. WE NEED YOUR HELP! ANYTHING...any amount that you can donate would be greatly appreciated. We are not asking for your first born child here, just something that you feel comfortable in giving. You decide. Just remember you are not donating to GMG.COM, KRAM1 or for something that may have made you upset in the past. You are helping the UNT Cheer Squad that is on the floor today and out in the community helping present a positive image for UNT and UNT Athletics. These kids are not on any sort of athletic scholarship as they are at some schools, and they get a very small budget...very small. They do a great job with very limited resources and do it because they love to be part of UNT Athletics and in supporting this great university of ours.

I am deeply appreciative for those who have donated, signed up to play, etc. to date. I am also appreciative of those who are considering a donation of any size or are still considering playing. I know your time and resources are limited. It says a lot about people who with those limited resources and time step up to help.

UPDATE...should have an autographed UNT football and UNT Basketball to place in a silent auction at the event...if you can't attend and want to place a bid on either or both, PM me and I'll give you the details on how you can do that. I hope to have photos of both posted on the board as soon as I am in possession of them. You should know that the UNT Athletic Dept. has been very involved and very positive and very helpful regarding this event. I tip my hat in gratitude to them...and I mean lots of them.

UPDATE...Two referees announced as confirmed...

WE are scheduled to have a great team of referees for our game...at this point we have none other than;

1) Raquel Cuffie from our UNT Mean Green Women's Team; and

2) Shannon Shorter from the UNT Mean Green Men's team.

How's that for some greatness, Mean green fans???? If for no other reason you will want to come out to see the refs work the game. It just getting better and more fun...still time to sign up to play and/or make a donation in support of the UNT Cheer Squad!

UPDATE...

I believe we have found our title sponsor...METZLER'S BBQ has expressed interest in helping out and I will be speaking more with them this next week. That would give us our Title Sponsor and the location for our after-game party/awards ceremony!

Also...I spoke with TONY MITCHELL at last night's game, and he agreed to be our third referee for the game. I will need to get all the details to him, but he said "sure, I'll referee for you" when I asked.

Things just keep developing...this is going to be fun! Be there to play or to watch and enjoy the after event party as well...you will have a good time! I promise.

PLAYER SIGN-UP DEADLINE IS 5:00PM on FRIDAY, MARCH 11th. That's this Friday! If you want to play, please don't be disappointed by missing the deadline. Will need your t-shirt size and player bios/stats for the draft which will take place soon after the deadline.

Then t-shirts will be ordered and the program will be made ready for the printer...lots to do, but the most important thing is that if you want to play, you get your name in before the deadline.
