Sadly, No....
FCS schools can and do offer NIL compensation to their student-athletes. While some FCS programs may not have the same level of resources as FBS programs, NIL collectives and individual sponsorships can still provide opportunities for student-athletes to earn money.
Examples of FCS NIL Collectives:
Illinois State: Empower The Nest, Ranch Collective
Montana: Good Ol' Grizzlies, Bobcat Collective Inc.
North Dakota: 1883 Collective, The Green and the Gold Collective
Northern Colorado: Bear Pride Collective
Rhode Island: Rhode to Excellence
South Dakota: Pride of the Western Plain, Statement 605 Collective
Southern Illinois: Saluki Football Alliance
Stony Brook: The 1957 Club
Tarleton State: Bleed Purple
"Tennessee was aware that Iamaleava's representatives had reached out to at least one other school, Oregon, prior to the start of spring practice, sources told ESPN, but Oregon said it wasn't interested.
The day before the winter portal ended in January, Iamaleava's representatives asked for his deal to increase to the $4 million range, but Tennessee didn't redo it."
