I was talking to one of the athletic boosters from my old high school in East Texas, and they have a kid that has not committed anywhere. He has gotten interest from schools but he is a bit undersized to play linebacker. He was a leader in east texas in tackles last year. His name is Justin Rawls 6-0, 180, sr. 164 tackles (99 solos), 9 TFL, 6 sacks, 5 CF, 5 FR, 1 INT, 1 blocked kick. 9-2A Def. MVP. He made the All East Texas Team on the Old Coach website. Maybe we can get this kid as a preferred walk on, since he is undersized. All East Texas

Here is another article on this kid.

He'd be better off going to Kilgore JC or Tyler JC and getting reps in as a Safety or maybe outside LB. We'd love to have him, don't get me wrong, but I think the young man would be better served playing some Juco ball, proving his merit and moving on from there.

I think that he is debating on if he should go the juco route or walk on somewhere. I know academically he is eligible, I was just spreading the word for an old friend of mine that is an athletic booster/ school board member there.

I know Coach Eckert at Kilgore runs a good program and he's a hell of a man. If Justin goes in and lights it up he'll be getting calls from all over. Also gives an extra step to the learning curve, from 2A - Juco, then Juco-FBS. I wish him the best of luck, hope he finds a home somewhere and we'd all love to see him walk-on at UNT.

I agree with FloMo regarding Kilgore. With his credentials he should get a scholarship and be very productive. If he's that good he should get a scholarship offer for at least FCS after he finishes at Kilgore.

He would have to pay his own way at North Texas with no guarantee that he makes the team and receives a scholarship.
