I show 20 commitments I can verify with one or 2 more possible reported NT commits Of this 6 are 3* rated commits...to me a sign of quality recruiting

addressing needs:

1. OT Grant Shaw Forney 6-5, 285

2. DT Micah Thompson Jones Ok HS 6-5, 290

3. DT Terrell Brooks Duncanville 6-4, 294

Known Offers still open: Another 3* prospects

DT Luther Maddy Atlantic HS 6-2, 275

DT Rakeem Knight Bama private school hS 6-2, 294 this is a strange recruit.

DT Johnny Hubbard, Maceo Smith hs 6-1, 270 NT visit scheduled

I would hope we commit/sign at least 1 more DT and 2 OL and a couple of quality WR ..hopefully the Houston WR Kevin Robertson another 3*, with 6-4 height. This would give us two WR 6-4 to win out over smaller DB's Considering the late employment of NT coaches and prior record this has the making of a "great" recruiting class.

As of today I show 15 prospects NT has offered that are still open...(3 are 3*players) hopefully this weekend will have some quality recruits still open to chose from and obtain their commitment.

Again....maybe someone should point out that Wyoming has 4 WRs this class and 2 of them are 2*s gunning for the starting positions avail. Combine that with the fact that Wyoming has one month of Texas Style weather and I cannot see why he would prefer the Cowgirls over the Mean Green. Fingers crossed on this kid. Thanks for the up to date analysis Old Timer since there has been so much movement the last couple days that I couldn't keep track. We can expect a couple more shockers before all is said and done. All-in-All....I can really appreciate how fast these coaches plugged into the pipeline and recruited "their own" class of recruits with such little time on the table. Now if this class winds up tying TD's best class (talent wise) and it was done in such short time...then I am grinning ear to ear with great expectations for the upcoming classes.

Even something as simple as a 4-5 win season this year will do absolute wonders for our recruiting.

That's what's even more impressive about the quality of recruits we're seeing. We have a lot of fluff to sell, facilities, new stadium, quality of our coeds, but nothing sells like winning. D-Mac's job on the recruiting trail gets nothing but easier from here.

I'm thoroughly enthused with this class so far, and add in one or two more nice surprises and we could have the foundation of something special starting to happen around here.

Definately want to see one more OL and one more DT, but other than that we've done pretty well with what was available and given our short field to work with so to speak.

No. Winning 1 or 2 more games than last year will not help recruiting. No recruit is going to say "Wow, UNT won 4 (or 5) games instead of the 3 games the won last year, they are on a roll!"

A winning record and bowl appearance will help recruiting.

That would be nice, but probably not realistic.

That would be nice, but probably not realistic.

Going undefeated and thinking we'd play in the Natinoal Championship Game is unrealistic.

Improving our win count by 3-4 games and going bowling, that's ultra realistic.

We return our top Rush and Receving threats and offensive coordinator.

We get an improvement to any degree in Defense and that's the margin of error for the 2-3 close games we lost last yr.

Maybe expectations are too high, but I expect to see winning football very soon.

Overall I think this is a great recruiting class and addresses almost every team need. Couple days to go yet, have we ever known this many recruits to be committed before signing date?

Problem is, you don't typically start to see recruiting classes contribute for a year or two outside of backs and receivers. Our greatest need is DT, and while I am pleased with Thompson, Brooks and Lincoln, realistically, none of them will contribute much this year and shouldn't be expected to. Honestly, they should all redshirt.

Well, with both of last year's starters gone, and, of the returning 4 players listed as DT having little or no college experience, how likely is that? A realistic hope at this point might be for one of them to redshirt. One thing I would like to see is for the staff to figure out a way to keep however many of those returning 4 here for summer school as is possible. That would give the new strength and conditioning coach a chance to get them into fall camp in shape to play. It's hard to believe that was the case last year.

Eulessismore, that is my point. They should redshirt, but we won't have that luxury unless we find a JUCO or two. We really need Cantly, Abbe and White to step up this year.

+1

addendum: Our only other hope is to get some JUCO help that could come in this fall (since spring transfers are now out of the question) and maybe contribute by the third game or so.
