Saturday Tv Numbers

I got these from unclebarky.com. He used to be the TV critic for DMN but no runs his own website. Numbers are low but match up with Big 12 games earlier in the day. I think there are less than 1,000 people who have Nieslon (sp?) boxes in DFW so I'm not sure how accurate these numbers are.

As for the North Texas ratings, the game had a pretty piddling 4,848 viewers in D-FW on TXA21. Oklahoma State and Baylor did a bit better earlier with 6,926 viewers while the Big 12 game before that drew 6,233 viewers.

I don't see those numbers as disparaging.....DFW has PLENTY of Baylor and OSU alum in the area and not mention Baylor has been ranked in the top 25 (coach's poll) this year. Let's be real...if they had televised our UNT-TTU game we would have had 10k+ viewers easily. Instead of televising games the three or four games that most would find interesting they instead show a ASU game. The upside is that those that watched saw UNT dominate the ever living (insert a synonym for fecal here) out of Ark St. An added bonus is that they also saw a roughly half-court shot by DJ. All in all...I ain't mad. :rock:

I wouldn't put too much stock in local Nielsen numbers. Even if the numbers were accurate (they're not), that would mean that 9,900 people in DFW watched the game live or on TV Saturday.

I'm not disappointed at all. Solid numbers for the little marketing we get. Most people had no idea the game was even on unless they stumbled across it. Guarantee you it was higher than 5000 TV's in a metroplex of 7 million though. Either ways, good pub, good win and good to see us continuiing to move in the right direction.
