It's funny that they show a picture of the football stadium with the caption "state-of-the-art". Um ... no ... erector set stadiums are not "state-of-the-art".

I think they were referring to the welding used.

Nonetheless, i's impressive what they've done and how they 've turned that whole scene around in a relatively short time period. UCF & USF both will be players in the future. Seems earily similar to us in a lot of ways. Come on top 25 ranking!

How does she get all that into one t-shirt? Be still my heart...but, nothing to compare with the co-eds of the Mean Green Nation. Mean Green nation wins...hands down (and off) !

Totally agree as to how far UCF has come from being a "commuter school". I visited their campus last May. They would make a great member for the Big East. Their campus has dorms integrated with shopping malls and intertwined with athletic facilities, and it has the thing that UNT sorely lacks--huge community support from the Orlando area. Students were in the stands hours before the CUSA title game with SMU. Commuter school image is history. All the SBC naysayers take note of FAU and FIU who will be the next recognized FL schools nationally. Both have been to bowl games since us and they are moving up the ladder fast. They are definitely not small schools. Part of our problem is to educate our fan base that the old SWC is dead, and there are schools in the SBC that have already surpassed the WAC and MAC and are hard pressing the MWC and CUSA. The SBC has only played FB for ten years, and they all far surpassed us after the first five years.

Orlando is a growing city in every respect. UCF has been on the rise since the early 2000's when they were a MAAC team. But keep in mind, they didn't sell-out their home game against SMU for the Conference Championship. But agreed, they're campus and master plan are tremendous and it's a place one could very easily enjoy their time at. They've spent almost 150 million on their Athletic Facilities alone in the past 5 yrs or something, really amazing. I can see us emulating their success in a lot of ways. Now to find a UNT student to be Miss July 2011 for Playboy and do a shoot at the new Stadium... You know Playboy was in town the other day... I now retreat to daydream about two of my biggest loves joining forces... A Mean Green Issue of Playboy... bestill my heart...

Actually it was after the first four years...but who's counting?

Another factoid is that UCF is the second largest university in the FBS with over 53,500 students.

Check projected enrollment at FIU and to a lesser extent FAU and you'll find the same sort of figures. These are NOT small schools, and unlike UNT they don't shy away from the student athletic fees. Just look at their fees if you think a $7. increase that still has not even taken effect is anything. Of course we won't even be competitive in that area with Texas FCS schools --TS@SM, UTSA, LAMAR,etc. If you consider suites are sold out and club seats are expected to sell out by April, the tired old po'boy student excuse that alumni aren't doing their part doesn't hold a lot of water now.
