Mwc - Usa To Earn Joint Bcs Bert ?

I think the MWC just sold themselves short. They almost certainly would have had an automatic berth all their own if they would have held out. You saw the rankings--both the WAC and the MWC came out ahead of 2 AQ conferences, and the MWC is getting the the best of the WAC. But now that C-USA has just as much access to the auto bid, no C-USA team will have any reason to leave their conference for the MWC. Seems to me this deal only benefits one conference in the long run.

This makes it pretty obvious that it is not official:

"We would like to preface the coming announcement by saying that Utah State will not be one of the teams invited because their fans are delusional. Almost as delusional as the Mountain West Conference fans who think they have a serious chance of ever becoming an AQ BCS Conference and bought into this joke."

This paragraph was added some time after original link posted. Yep, someone hacked the MWC official site.

The Mountain West Conference isn't completely finished in its ability to push for BC$ status. There's a reason for the rumors of the league going to 14 or 16. The timing of Texas's $300 million contract announcement couldn't have worked out better. The Mountain West is hoping for a nice television contract that could come from the Comcast/NBC merger. Comcast owns half of the Mountain West Sports Network. This could possibly attract some of the current Big XII teams away--notably Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, and Iowa State--and fuel an argument for a MWC automatic bid as ongoing talks of possible inclusion of the Cotton Bowl into the BC$ intensifies.
