North Texas: Dan McCarney

Rating: Love it. The Todd Dodge experiment went horribly wrong, so North Texas was absolutely right to go after a proven winner on the FBS level. McCarney spent 12 years as head coach at Iowa State, and remains the longest-tenured (141 games) and winningest (56) coach in school history. He spent the last several seasons as an assistant at Florida, and did the right thing when he kept Mike Canales on as offensive coordinator. With fertile recruiting ground all around him, plus a new stadium opening, McCarney has what he needs to build a winner.

Good find, and encouraging assessment.

Let me take this occasion to encourage you to comment whenever ESPN and other major sports websites provide a Sun Belt (particularly UNT) article. Whenever people complain that they do not provide enough Belt coverage, they respond that Sun Belt articles get very few hits or comments. If each of us makes it a point to make some comment, at least it can take away their excuse, if not lead them to provide more Belt (particularly UNT) coverage. Also, be sure to go ahead and click on the link, even if you think you have all the information you want in MG61's post.

      I feel if we play as we did against Wyoming especially if we get some players back we should be at Tulsa by about 38 to 14. we just need to come out of the gate and shove the ball down their throat and don't let up. Go Mean Green beat Tulsa.

      I don’t think there will be reconsideration. The AAC has a good thing and can lure JMU and Air Force if desired. The ground got more solid the last 24. Good for us, because our hype train is pulling into the station this month and loading up! GMG

      Week 4 Bowl ESPN Projections

      I would love for us to get a team we had good chances against in a bowl game. I and many others have been to all bowls since we won the New Orleans bowl and have only seen 2wins although last bowl game we played in was close and we showed UNT can play with a lot of teams. We will end up 7 -5 or 8-4 and might get a decent bowl not in mid December. Go Mean Green keep up the 3-4 and win 9.
