Mid Major Top 25 Poll

Since NT is ranked in the top 10 of the mid major basketball poll, I am wondering why the athletic department is ignoring the ranking? I have not heard or read any reference to the poll from NT officials. It's like they are embarrassed to be a part of the phrase 'mid major.' Any thoughts?

It does have some cred in the fact that coaches are the voters...but saying UNT is #9 in the country according to the Mid-Major Poll is like saying a player shoots an outstanding 66% from the field when he only went 2 for 3...yes, technically its true, but its not terribly significant.

That said, if it puts butts in the Pit...lets make an effing banner.

I think CBL has a point when the quote is "if it puts butts in the Pit". For one, I would definitely try to play it up in the media...it is what it is and could be used very positively as a bit of a campaign. to try to increase attendance. Even the home winning streak is not being used (to my knowledge) in any way to help draw attendance. It's as if folks are supposed to just magically show up. I am not sure why UNT never seems to find a way to create positive opportunities to create buzz and "ticket sales" from such things as this. Drex does know a thing or two about such matters having worked in the Athletic Dept. for several years back in his "younger days".

All in all, and with the given lack of any discernible promotion, the attendance has been pretty darn good. The Mean Green fan base should be proud of that, but I just wonder what might could be given how good this team has been playing at home this season, the home win streak, last year's NCAA appearance and SBC tournament win, etc. with even a little promo?

Can't wait to see the student turnout next Saturday with classes back in full force and with a chance to extend the home win streak. Be there...wear Green and Be LOUD AND PROUD!

I think it all comes down to what the mid-major poll is saying; that they think we are one of the best teams that isn't one of the best teams.

Does the general fan even know about the mid major top 25 poll? We could tout it all we want but if the general fan we are trying to attract knows nothing about it, I don't think it would have the positive impact some are hoping for.

People who might respect it are getting the information. Our MM-T25 information was printed on the game notes/program that everyone gets for free.

I think this is definitely something we should be proud of.

However, it does say quite a bit when the #1 team on the list does not even get a mention in the AP Top 25...

With the type of recruit JJ is getting , I don't think you want to advertise the fact that you are a Mid-Major school . i would think you would want to introduce yourself as a DI school with an outstanding program the past few years and including two NCAA tourney appearances.
