At tonight's game Spud Webb and Mark Aguire were in attendance. There were 3 of us on my row who saw Mark Aguire play at The Pit when he was at Depaul. We stopped him and let him know. He was really cool and said he remembered it as one of the closest game he ever played in. Depaul was ranked in the Top 10 and won by 1 point. He said they had no idea Blakley's squad was so good and thought they would have an easy game. Aguire, who was the Mav's first pick ever, also said some random fan told him he would be drafted by the Mavericks. He thought no way he would ever come to Texas.

As for Webb, somebody said we are recruiting his son. Maybe a recruiting person could comment on that.

Actually Kiki Vandeweghe (sp?) was the Mavs first ever pick. He declined the chance to play in Dallas...so the Mavs had to trade his rights (to Denver). Aguirre was our #1 pick in our second year.

Spud Webb looks exactly the same as he did 20 years ago. Very friendly and approachable man. Also assured me he could take Isiah 1 on 1 if an impromptu game were to break out at the half.

I'm sure Aguirre was there to support his long time Chicago friend Isiah Thomas. Aguirre also assisted Thomas when he coached the Knicks. Saw Aguirre about 2 weeks at a HS tournament in Dallas. Daughter Alana is a freshman at Frisco Wakeland.

I hate to ruin your memory of the game, but the final score wasn't that close - it was 92-86, according to www.fanbase.com. From what I remember, we kept fairly close most of the game, but by the end they were pulling away and all we could do was keep fouling them.

The DePaul game and the triple-overtime win over Texas - both in 1980-81 - were incredible. Great times - here's to Bill Blakely!

There's not much about NT at the "fanbase" page. North Texas played DePaul home and home. When the Blue Demons came to Denton, and I was there, they were ranked numbeer 1 in the nation. The previous year, Kenneth Lyons and Mark Agire had a real battle in Chicage. Lyons had not forgotten when Aguire came to the Coliseum. depaul won, but not until after Lyons threw Aguire over the North Texas bench.

Usually Kenny Lyons is at the games......as he sits by me. I wish he'd been there last night. I'm sure he would have love to have seen Aguirre again.

I, too, was in attendance for both the DePaul game and the triple overtime game with Texas. Thanks for bringing back some great UNT BB memories!

Good win last evening...what was up with the "late" entry of Tristen Thompson? Was he being "disciplined" for something? The team seemed "off their game" at first without him on the floor...when he can in late in the first half, it seemed to turn the tide and the whole team stepped up. Was it just me, or did it seem that way to anyone else? Plus...it did seem to take the whole crowd a few minutes to get into the game. Got to hand it to the students. Pretty decent turn out when school is still out.

GO MEAN GREEN! Nice win! Keep 'em coming.

According to the D-RC: He was being held out, for not showing enough intensity on the defensive end, in practice.

As many of us expected and discussed last evening after seeing him sit! Thanks for the confirmation. I hope he got the point as he is a valuable contributor to the team (understatement, perhaps?).

Thank you so much for the correction. 5 points is a huge difference, and I should have remembered that since it has only been 31 years.
