The real saving grace with the BIG12 is Kansas State playing Iowa State this Saturday. If Kansas State wins and BYU, Colorado, and Arizona State all lose, you're looking at the Big 12 champion having 3 losses at worst and I'm not sure that's enough to keep them out and Tulane in.
What kind of chaos do you think would have to happen to keep the Big12 out?
There's a non zero chance that the Big XII could miss the playoffs entirely. I doubt it happens, but if enough chaos takes place between all of the teams that have a chance (something like 8 teams are mathematically alive), the right combination could have the winner fall behind Tulane in the final poll. It's not likely, but it's a possibility.
The first time I noticed our half time show having the rifle twirlers, I was really surprised. Maybe I'm out of touch because I don't go to a lot of college or HS games anymore, but I associate (fake) rifle twirling with high school bands. I remember some high schools introducing that back in the 80's. I don't recall noticing it with any of the larger college half time shows, but I could be wrong. High school bands usually have a flag corp, or color guard, but I've seen plenty of college marching bands with those as well.
