Doctor doctors research for cash

For those who are always blaming big, bad business for everything, meet Andrew Wakefield.

No, this obviously doesn't mean all research on any subject is invalid, but it does show that money can influence and corrupt the researcher, and people should really examine doom and gloom research findings.

I didn't see anything in the article refering to how much money he made or where the research dollars came from. Looks like your trying to tie this in with climate change research (as inferred by your "doom and gloom research" reference). I know you'd love to see the downfall of all global warming researchers and supporters, but in this instance, it seems like a bit of a stretch.

$700k from defense attorneys poised to sue the companies that produced the vaccines.

His medical license has been pulled in England (wasn't there some other research scandal in that country?) and every other doctor that participated in the research has disavowed the research and pulled their name from association with the research.

The point is that research can be influenced by the almighty dollar. Proof positive. Now, think about if your paycheck depended on a certain outcome of said research.

Everyone should make their own decision, just food for thought.

The "vaccine" link to autism had been debunked some time ago. But, some folks still cling to the idea that there is a link to vaccines which, as everyone now knows, was based on fraudulent research. Really a shame as parents of these kids cling to any studies and any new research that seem to "answer" any such question regarding the condition. These parents are some of the most vocal and energized in trying to find reasons and potential cures for autism. It is a shame and a crime when this stuff happens. It harms all the legitimate research that is done, and should not be tolerated. My wife is a behavior analyst and very active in the Association of Behavior Analysts. One of the most active sub-groups of this organization is composed of researchers, practitioners and parents deeply involved in the study of and in the work with children with autism.

There is much good work being done in this field...unfortunately this fraud is not to be included.

OK...now you're sounding like a hippie (I luv u CBL)

What if all the available information come from dirty, money whoring, agenda pushing research?

Perhaps you missed the above earlier.

The research that I personally consider reliable is all over the place. Global warming is man made, global warming is occurring naturally and is cyclical. Global warming is happening, the earth has been cooling since the 90s.

What this tells me is that scientist don't know what the hell is happening. I wish they would just admit that. Kinda not in their nature.

It clearly angers you that I posted this article. It is what it is.

As for the CBL comparison, everyone has the right to their own opinion, something some people on this board should learn to respect. And there ain't no way I am moving to his communist compound.

When I grew up, there were about 9 vaccines kids had to take. I was told recently by a parent of an autistic that they (today's kids) take over 25.

And those radio commericials are saying autism rates have increased 600% in that time span.

I wish there was some valid research to sort through. If anyone has links or sources, I think I would like to read up.

I read about a study that found that Jared's weight loss was attributed more to the additional sweat caused by global warming than by him eating cheese-less veggie sandwiches.

It was just released though that study was paid for and the results pre-determined by Quiznos.

Everyone should make their own decision, just food for thought.

Part of the problem is that I want to keep a low carbon footprint because everyone else is so irresponsible, so I don't have a refrigerator. I guess that is what you have to suffer through to care about the environment and be a dirty hippie.

I was gonna go over to the local Chick-fil-a, but a glacier melted and my street is flooded. :hot:

Please tell me it melted in the Brazos River watershed.

The lake is getting a little low.

Penn & Teller did a Bullshit! episode on the autism/vacine links.
