And Your Starting Qb At Unt In 2011 Is...

Derek Thompson. Canales does have a tendency to lean towards a mobile QB... but he would much rather have a QB that he can trust to execute the offense and throw the ball accurately and not have the passing game limited due to lack of arm strength, lack of size/ability to see downfield, or lack of pocket presence. DT is a winner and an exceptionally hard worker.

Right now you have one QB who suffered a bad injury last year and a commitment from a sophomore juco. I doubt Teegarden or Blaine will ever see the field again at QB unless another horrible string of QB injuries reoccurs. Thompson has barely seen the field and Osborne is a complete unknown at this point. Osborne will probably have the edge if Thompson can;t go in the spring. Both Osborne and Thompson appear to be far from dual threat QBs,although both are mobile enough to keep a defense from totally playing them to pass. I think there will be a couple more QB's signed that will be competitive.

I'd like to see a dual threat QB. I think the days of the pocket-passing QB are more or less over and have been for a few years. Not many programs get by on just a pocket-passer and as the game gets faster, the mobile QB is the best bet. In war, the winner is the one who can best shoot, move, and communicate. Football is not that different.

Lighten up, big boy. It''s the offseason!

At least it's not some new conference or freaking uniform thread.

touche :sword: in that case... I would say that a JUCO gets the start. We love Derek but the truth is that his experience is very limited and there is always the risk of that injury coming back to plague him. Blaine and Tea don't make the cut (sorry) and it would be rather mind-boggling to use Tune (nothing but respect for him) for next year when we could use someone who will be here longer and doesn't have that injury lingering over them. Osborn will not be handed the reins without proving value of course so we can expect another Spring Training/Fall that will be down to the wire like last year.
