Just one game on the schedule, and doesn't mean anything RPI wise.

Florida Memorial

@ FAU

Gives the Owls a nice tune up before they head back into SBC action. Should be an easy 9th win for them.

Current Belt RPI's. As was mentioned a day or two ago, we took a real beating just for stepping on the same floor as ULL.

102 North Texas

107 FAU

141 WKU

143 UALR

207 MTSU

252 USA

215 ASU

291 Denver

296 Troy

307 ULL

308 FIU

331 ULM

I cannot....for the life of me...understand how FAU is right there next to us. Who have they beaten?

Miss St? Yeah they have victories....over teams like App St and others of that caliber

USF? Yeah...Devry could take them this year

What about their close losses?

Sienna?

UC Davis?

The rest of their losses weren't even close.

I can't wait till Feb 3rd when we show who the one and only dominant team in the Belt is this year. I looked at our schedule from here out and the only games I get somewhat twitchy about are:

home against Ark St. (though we clearly have a Superpit advantage)

at WKU...always a battle

and at Ark St.

I may go on the record by stating we will have no more than 3 losses this year.

RPI doesn't care about margin of victory or defeat...only who you play. FAU has a much better schedule (50% of the formula is your opponents record)than us - hence their RPI strength. Our SOS is 317...theirs is 164.

RPI is based more on who you play than winning. Obviously winning against a highly ranked team will shoot you up, but just playing them in the first place boosts your ranking. That's why a 30 point loss to Kansas did wonders for us vs. the two wins against Texas State-San Marcos that pulled our rank down.

So this will change once the Sunbelt's new OOC game regulations come into effect across the board.

Hopefully. For our part, we need to stop scheduling schools like TSUSM, Jackson State, and Grambling State. I realize they fill a need in getting ready for conference play, but with the SBC as bad as it is, we really need a better resume in case we lose the SBC tournament and the decision lands with the selection committee for an at-large bid.

On the other hand, they're probably some of the only schools we can afford to play us at our place. Hopefully we can get more home and homes with schools, but if we can't - we have to fill out the home schedule with someone. I sure don't wanna have to play most of our OOC games on the road.

Not only just affordability... But, a huge problem we are facing is just getting people to play us. We are better than our brand, and other bigger brand programs know it and do not want to lose to us. It is hard for them to schedule a game they are going to lose.

That's why I said...hopefully we can get some home and homes (preferably with MVC or CAA type schools). That way you don't have to pay anybody to come play you. If they won't agree to a H&H you do have to pay them to come to your house.

Would it really be that difficult to get Wichita State, UAB, etc to come here? Northern Iowa went into Ft. Worth a month ago.

I don't see Tulsa lining up a home and home since we swept the last one a few years ago. Have we gotten a MVC school on the schedule since we likewise swept Indiana State? Seems like those schools might be keeping away.
