The strategy could definitely be "Hack a Ben" for our opponents. I am glad to see the reserves getting quality minutes before the conference opener Thursday. This strategy by JJ could certainly pay big dividends for the Mean Green as the conference schedule plays out.

Good to get the win last evening, but man was it ever UGLY! The rust was showing from the short holiday break, and it was really good to have this "tune up" heading into Thursday's game.

See you at the Super Pit Thursday. GO MEAN GREEN!

And yet the stat sheet nor the eyeball test indicate any reason why he is the reason.

Not knocking Knox, but George still gets double teamed, Knox still struggles with footwork and rebounding. I know it must be something, but for the life of me I can't figure out what that something may be.

Tomorrow should be quite a test of the Knox-infused lineup.

I'm much older, but even I can shoot free throws better than Knox. His FT shooting form is.......well, it's not a classic form.

Maybe he should change to a different shot.

Its starting to click for him. If he can give 15 minutes a night in conference with the kind of line he's had in the last 3 games I'll be elated.

Concerning though, Kedrick seemingly has not responded well to a bench role. Not sure if its some lingering effects from the knee issues after the Jackson State game, but his three worst games of the year have been his last 3...all coming off the bench.

He's improved remarkably as of late. But he really, really needs to work on his FT shooting form or he'll be a real liability.

Like CBL, I am a bit concerned about Hogans. I tend to side with it's after effects of the injury he sustained.

JJ's strategy of playing Ben and some of the other reserves (Hall, Edwards, etc.) during the past few games is really paying off as one can see in the play of Ben Knox. The kid is playing with more intensity and strength and it seems confidence. I really didn't think I'd live long enough to see Ben dunk the ball, and there it was last evening...not one but TWO...count 'em TWO Ben Knox dunks. Be still my heart! To me tat was just another indication of the confidence that playing time has given Ben. Seems his defense is getting better as well.

Hall can light 'em up when he gets hot and is very intense on the defensive side...at least in my observation. Edwards still does not appear to have all the confidence he needs, but I have seem some improvement with his play as well. You have to hand it to JJ and his coaching team. They seem to be handling playing time and rotations well, and it has already started top pay dividends.

GO MEAN GREEN! Good things are happening for the reserves on the team!

I just want to know where all the naysayers are that were down on Knox earlier in the year. Good job Ben! It is always nice to prove those wrong that doubted you. I foresee a double double with at least 5 blocks against the Cajuns.

Yeah, I really didn't get the Knucklehead Knox Knockers. His quick transformation from a foul every 3 minutes to a foul every 10-15 minutes has really been amazing. He actually looks to play with a bit of a swagger now instead of like a scared kid. If he learns that quickly in other aspects of his game, and puts on a few more pounds for his Junior year, we could have a real player on our hands down the road. Glad he's getting some serious minutes now, because we sure saw what a lack of length can do to you against teams like KState and Kansas. Sure hope we find another big man, but suddenly a rotation down low next season of Knox, Hogans, Holmen, Edwards, and Robinson doesn't look so bad now.

I feel like the move into the starting line-up was just the confidence boost he needed. It seemed like when he was getting mostly mop-up duty, he didn't feel like he belonged. Now that he is in the starting line-up, it seems like he feels he really belongs and can contribute. He still has flashes where he looks lost, but for the most part he does what he can and doesn't force it too much. The only thing that worries me is the way he was abused be Javan Mitchell at the end of the game. The guy average less than a point and rebound a game, and Knox let him look like a first team all conference player.

Coach Jones has made an outstanding transformation with Knox. He has put on weight and what I have seen during the last three home games the kid is not only controling his opponent but batting balls away & disrupting the opponents on the inside. I would imagine that Coach Jones is working on him to have better hands when the ball is passed to him on the inside. The kid is turning out to the the real deal thanks to his coaching and his willingness to listen and learn.

I hope Big Ben is turning the corner, but we have a very small sample size to make such a proclamation. Lets talk 2/3 of the way through the conference schedule.

His confidence has vastly improved, but he has a loooong way to go. Saturday's line: 31 minutes played, 2 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 turnover, 3 steals (odd stat of the night). In 31 minutes, you gotta have more than 4 rebounds from your center position. Also nary a 1 offensive rebound among the 4.

The guy has improved, but still has a ways to go before we annoit him the next George Odufuwa (why don't we have a 3 page thread dedicated to THAT guy!).

That said, they do seem to be better when he and Big George are on the floor at the same time.
