Utah Valley 95

FIU 92

Panthers were down a ton early...almost came back to win, but alas could not.

It would have been nice to get the sweep. Seems like the Belt can't get any momentum going this season (sure seems like we've lost most of these 50/50 type games this year). I guess FIU spent too much time celebrating the bowl game.

For the record... Utah Valley had the 6th worst RPI in all of D-1 basketball last year.

342 out of 347.

One win, one loss... Two games that never should have been scheduled.

Utah Valley was 291 going into tonight. I guess at least they were Div 1. Bottom half of Belt is brutal.

Now 0-5 on the road...they'd be this year's Denver if Denver weren't already this year's Denver.

Looking at the box...for some reason Eric Frederick, leading scorer at 17ppg, didn't start and only logged 23 minutes. Not sure if this is disciplinary, but if not there is no excuse for playing your top scorer those few minutes in a losing effort.

Oh...and Marvin Roberts, 10ppg, didn't play at all.

I'm still very wary of FIU...they are loaded with talent...but if Isiah can't muster wins against UVST, Jackson State and Bowling Green, I have a hard time believing he can get this team to around .500 in SBC play...which honestly should be easily attainable with this roster. Isiah is still searching for a rotation, certainly, with guys like Legion and Ferguson just now becoming eligible...but...damn...

They open up conference play on Jan 2 @ ULM...that should be a W.
